Hotel's Favourite
Nestled within the walls of St Malo, this is a small, wonderful, family run hotel managed by a husband and wife team who have escaped the Paris rat race. The sleep quality was exceptional with a quiet sound proofed room, high quality linens and a very comfy bed. The room was a decent size with excellent facilities. The breakfast is characterised by fresh produce and tasty baked goods and the use of many local products.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel des Abers for 5 nights in September. It was our first time to Saint Malo and Bretagne, and we found the hotel to be the perfect spot for our mini-holiday. The owners were very welcoming and nice, recommending things to do in Saint Malo while providing a nice, clean atmosphere for their guests. Definitely recommend to take advantage of the breakfast each morning and the selection of local cakes, desserts, and crepes! The Hotel des Abers perfectly suited our needs for a holiday in Saint Malo, and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit!

This hotel is in a great location situated within St Malo’s walls. Public payable parking 5 minutes walk away. Friendly owners with the wife speaking English. A delicious, quality and varied breakfast is available at an additional cost. Must say I did like the idea of each person at breakfast being given their own tongs to use for picking up items at the breakfast buffet - why has no one ever thought of doing that before ?! Overall a very pleasant two night stay.

I loved my stay at Hotel des Abers! This is a charming small hotel with an excellent location in the old city near the ramparts. I was welcomed very warmly by Patricia, who along with her husband Philippe are the lovely owners. I also adored meeting their sweet doggie Bijou who is 16 years old!
I stayed in one of the nicely appointed Cabine rooms which had a great bed and was very quiet. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful!! Philippe made delicious crepes served with caramel beurre salé and there was an excellent gateau Nantais, gateau fondant d'orange, and a gateau Breton plus croissants and baguettes!
Additionally, there was a very nice selection of excellent cheeses and ripe fruit of the season. It is was a five-star breakfast worth every penny!
Thank you, Patricia, Philippe, and Bijou for a wonderful stay and fabulous breakfast!

My family of four stayed at the Hotel des Abers for three nights. I recommend it highly! The hosts were very helpful and friendly with great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were very comfortable, and the location was perfect. We had two rooms next to each other facing the street; while there was some street noise we slept very well. Don't forget to swim in the ocean swimming pool!

Overall excellent stay and good value for money. staff / owners were superb throughout and really friendly. Room was spotlessly clean. We were on the top floor so be aware it is like an old attic with the beams/eaves meaning one side of bed required a bit of manoeuvring to avoid banging your head. Breakfast was great, wide selection to choose from and overall good value. Location was very central so everything on doorstep (albeit everything in saint malo is no more than 5 min walk)

Stressful check-in as we had a car, and parking in the old town is not available. Having phoned the hotel to explain they were very helpful in trying to “guide us in”, and eventually we made it! Really appreciated their help. During the night the fire alarm went off, and we obviously made our way downstairs on foot (from 3rd floor) to be told “false alarm” . Finally the alarm was silenced so we made our way back upstairs, but 10 mins later the alarm sounded again. So we went down again, and although being told “false alarm” again, I said we’d say until it was over as there was no chance of sleeping with that noise going on. We did eventually get back to sleep for a couple of hours, but as other guests got up there were many banging doors which woke us up. PLEASE PLEASE install soft closures on your doors so that people are not woken by so many slamming doors. We had a lovely buffet breakfast but were a little disappointed that no discount was offered due to our very disturbed night’s sleep. Overall could have been a much better experience than it was; and a little overpriced for the fairly basic facilities.

We don't understand your review! There are 12 car parks around the old town, free at night. What an idea to absolutely want to enter Intra-Muros when it is a historic district! We are sorry for distrubing with fire alarm, but we cannot be held responsible for guests who smoke in the room when it is prohibited. At least it verifies that the fire alarm is working. This does not justify granting a rebate.

My partner and I wanted to explore Saint Malo and the surrounding area for a week, after being in Paris, and this was the best place to stay. It is in the middle of all the historical buildings and streets, which really immerses you in the history. You are also a 2 minute walk from the ramparts which takes you straight to the outskirts of the town. Our room was just what we needed to explore during the day and rest in the evening. They were very attentive with cleaning and ensuring we had everything we needed. It was nice and quiet as well, even though we were close to the hustle and bustle. We weren't planning on having breakfast at the hotel when we stayed, but once we had it the first day we ended up eating there the whole week. We felt like we were eating at home with the delightful homemade pastries and selection of items for breakfast. The owner even gave us recommendations outside the city that ended up making our trip even better. Would definitely stay again if we ever return!

This charming family-run hotel is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Saint-Malo. It is in a historic building with a lot of character in a very convenient location in near the main entrance to the walled city. We stayed there for two nights and found everything about the hotel to be totally satisfying. The owners were friendly and extremely helpful when it came to making restaurant reservations and providing recommendations or information.
