As my wife, Sue, and I were looking over our photos from 2013 I realized that I had failed to write a review of Symphonie de Sens, even though it is one of our two favorite B&Bs in the whole world. The other reviews have noted how charming a place this is, in one of the oldest buildings in town in the heart of the old part of Rennes., There are many nice restaurants in easy walking distance, and we had a room next to the patio that allowed us a real feeling of spaciousness. Our host, Fabrice, made fresh breakfasts every day that we just loved --with truly scrumptious croissants . But what set this apart from other places we have stayed was the incredible kindness of Fabrice (and his parents). I got very very sick late the night before we were supposed to fly our of Rennes (vomiting) and Fabrice called a friend at a pharmacy to get it opened very very early in the morning so as to allow my wife to pick up some medication for me, and he then took my wife, first to the pharmacy and then to the airport to help her try to reschedule our flight. He did all the negotiations for us. He did all this even though he had other guest coming in later that day. Because this is such a small B&B and he served as the waiter for breakfast, and were there for over a week, we were able to get to know Fabrice a bit; and we felt and still feel a strong personal connection to him. He is just a really really nice guy!…
What a total surprise. It was hard to find and the entrance was nondescript. The owner's father saw us driving around and actually came out to guide us. What a feast for the senses. The hotel is in a 1480's building and was so tastefully done that it kept its character with all the modern conveniences. The owner Fabrice was friendly and helpful, however, he will be remembered for the décor of the hotel.
What a fabulous little hotel. Everything about the place is top notch. Reputedly the oldest building in Rennes it has character in abundance! Wonderfully comfortable and they really have tried to think of everything to make a stay memorable. Mine hosts were very friendly and helpful. A wonderful haven - peaceful and tranquil. Not the cheapest perhaps but well worth any little extra.Simply the best!!
The second oldest house in town, warm and generous owners, very well located and the charm of a historical house! Besides the rooms there is a very nice common area with a living room and terrace. The market is 5 min by walk and it's the region's second biggest...
We stayed in this glorious hotel in the heart of Rennes's old medieval quarter surrounded by a plethora of great restaurants for two nights. Our hosts René & Françoise could not have done more to make us more welcome or our stay more memorable. Our room was charming overlooking a lovely seated sun terrace where we enjoyed our breakfast on both summer mornings. There is parking nearby which the hotel organises at a very reduced cost of only 9€ per day. Free WiFi in your room plus tea and coffee facilities. In the lounge there is a fridge with drinks and bottled water at very reasonable prices and you are trusted to leave the money for them in a dish provided. Would highly recommend.
