I cannot say enough good things about the staff and service here. I was part of a tour group and we were warmly welcomed and treated very well. The hotel is built right into the rock wall and has a great deal of charm. The breakfast room has a huge fireplace, the dining room contains a wall of windows, and the...

We walked in 'unseasonably' hot weather (33 degrees) from the train station and could not have had a nicer welcome. The foyer was cool, the owners very welcoming, the pool was a life saver. We hired great bikes for touring from Robert of Aquitaine Bikes. These were delivered to the hotel which was a bonus and were able to be...

When we arrived at this hotel on a rainy spring day, it was dripping with purple wisteria--absolutely beautiful. We stayed two nights and found it to be very charming and comfortable. The hosts were always pleasant and helpful; didn't even seem to mind our bad attempts at speaking their language. Fortunately, they spoke English! The second floor contained a lounge...

I have visited this hotel four times in the last 25 years and nothing has changed. It is a wonderful step back in time. The hotel is old, and housed some earlier cave explorers. The hotel is family owned and their kindness and care of guests is obvious. The cuisine is perfect. Traditional cuisine prepared in a fresh manner. The...

Absolutely heavenly stay at Le Cro-Magnon Hotel! The hotel looks like it springs right out of the cliff face, and the pool had me imagining the feeling of being in a small Eden, with the variety of luscious plants and greenery surrounding the deck and pool area. There is a lovely indoor dining room, but the outside patio under a...

The outside of the building is picturesque. The inside is far less so, particularly as you get into the guest rooms. They are dated and musty (which I can understand because the village is a damp place, but they could install dehumidifiers). The rooms are large, but the beds (two twins pushed together in my room) need updated bedding and...

Our twin bedded room was comfortable, with a large bathroom. TV (no English), WIFI. Excellent little restaurant. Lots of selections for breakfast. Les Eyzies is a small town so one can walk anywhere in the town. We hired a taxi to take us to Lascaux II to view the painted caves, and there is a painted cave in the town.

Have you ever entered a hotel and quietly confided to yourself 'oh dear this wasn't what I was expecting', well that's how I felt about this hotel. It gives the initial appearance of being dated and worn at the edges and there are areas that need attention and could be easily rectified. For example a light switch had been moved...

We stayed in this charming, small, family run hotel during a cycling trip through the Dordogne. The hosts are welcoming and helpful, the rooms spotless and the kitchen is excellent. We enjoyed eating in the lovely garden each evening. An added bonus is that it is an important archaeological site for those interested in the famous caves of the Dordogne.
