My review is tricky, because my husband and I arrived to the hotel after a very long day of travel and we were soooo tired. The hotel is in a perfect location in central Biarritz, walking distance from every place you want to go to. We had booked a standard room in advance, and the room was extremely and uncomfortably small, and the layout was very uncomfortable as well. we began looking for alternative places and went down to let the reception know we will only be staying one night (rather then the originally planned 4 nights) and they were SOOOOOO nice and immediately told us that they would refund us for the other nights but that we should try their new hotel next door that had just opened that day, Royal Suites - in short, we moved the next day to the Royal suites next door and LOVED IT. Also, the amenities and staff at the Windsor are so professional and lovely. And the breakfast at the windsor was OUTSTANDING - so much so that though they explained to us that the Royal Suites would have the same breakfast as the Windsor, my husband would not even think of it and we continued to have breakfast next door at the windsor for the remainder of our stay.

We booked this hotel last minute, and was not disappointed. The location is very good, the staff is exceptional, the room was large and very clean. The breakfast that was included was off for an American. I love my scrambled eggs and their scrambled eggs is like soup.

But hey! When in Rome (France) do as the Romans do.

Loved the location of the hotel and the buffet breakfast was great, lovely selection and quality.
We only stayed for one night but the room had everything we needed. A couple of negatives, the shower gel hadnt been refilled and was empty. The coffee machine didn’t work. They also had a problem with their phone lines, which on reporting to the desk the response was 'yes, l've heard that about that room'. Why not fix it? We were in 508, shortly after arrival we were getting calls to make restaurant bookings etc. didn't think too much about it and went out. After coming back late it rang multiple times with people trying to get into the hotel waking us up. At this point we just pulled the plug out but seriously-it should be fixed as no one wants a rubbish sleep being constantly woken. Reception staff couldn't have cared less.

We spent two nights in Biarritz in October
The pros: the ideal location of the hotel. Which is located on the seafront and in the city center.
The big downside: the nauseating smell of sewer which hit us as soon as the bedroom door was opened. We reported this inconvenience to reception. They came to spread a spray to combat these terrible odors but the odor released was itself very unpleasant. This caused discomfort throughout the stay.
The flushing operation was inconsistent: it was sometimes difficult to stop the water from flowing. Furthermore, the plate was poorly screwed, giving a feeling of neglect.
There were little tubes with body milk. Unfortunately said milk was difficult to extract from the tube. It penetrated the skin poorly.
The room is very small. Fortunately the window overlooked the beach.
The bedding was comfortable.
The room equipment left something to be desired, especially for the price. A bottle of water is offered upon arrival
If you come by car, the hotel unfortunately does not have parking spaces but you can park in the Casino car park which is just a stone's throw away.
Breakfast is varied and there are fresh local products. Unfortunately the dining room is small and very noisy. If you like cozy atmospheres, it's best to avoid.
The elevator is very very small and you often have to be patient to wait for your turn, especially at breakfast time (there is only one elevator)
The staff were pleasant and welcoming.
I found the price high for the very average quality of the services, especially since it is a 4-star hotel.
Disappointment. But the location – let’s repeat it – is ideal.

Positives: breakfast, breakfast staff and location

Negative point: cleanliness of the linen, reception staff, tiny elevator which makes it difficult to bring luggage up in a 7-story hotel, very poor soundproofing of the rooms, especially since cleaning starts early (forget early morning graces) and very limited commercial practices: the site and the information transmitted on parking arrangements are fanciful. We reported this to reception and they treated us like liars, telling us that the rate we were quoting never existed. On the hotel website, it mentions 37 euros per week, note that several customers like us paid 150 euros per week. Finally, we offer you a welcome cocktail at the restaurant if you book there...

This hotel deserves its 4 stars just for the quality of its welcoming, smiling, efficient and attentive staff.
But what can we say about the perfect location by the ocean, the comfort of the place, the excellent breakfast, the Chez Eugénie restaurant? They also deserve 4 stars of course!
For just one night, the standard room is certainly small but very comfortable, functional and with unbeatable value for money. The bedding is great!
For a future longer stay, I can't wait to try a larger room with a view.

The hotel is perfectly located and this is its strong point. All of Biarritz can be done on foot. But no private parking so you need to leave your car in one of the two very close Indigo car parks (between 14 and 17 Euros/day). Perfect breakfast with choice, freshness and very friendly staff. But the room is not up to what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Very good bedding, but small bathroom with it being impossible to stand straight on the toilet when you are 1.80m tall. Apparent mold in the shower. In addition, our friends had to change rooms because it was too noisy and no commercial gesture was offered during payment.

Stayed in Room 502 and it was really nice with superb views over La Grande Plage. I read a number of poor reviews for this hotel prior to staying so was a bit apprehensive of our stay but it was lovely, we had a superior sea view room which was big enough however, some of the rooms may be quite small. Yes, the lift is tiny especially if you have large cases but it’s an old building so you expect these things and if you’re looking for a modern ‘American’ style chain hotel this is not for you! Breakfast was very good too. No parking on-site so parked at the Casino which was very close however, we paid €40 for less than 24 hours which is extortionate but I think it was our fault as we didn’t get parking validated by the hotel but best to check this out before departure.

All in all, a good stay except.....really very poor wifi in the room, even the public areas not that good... the router system is clearly very old and insecure and needs updating. Also, our room telephone intercom didn't work so we always had to call reception on our mobile...despite telling them straight away, no attempt was made to fix it during our 2 night stay.
We had a junior suite on the 4th floor with beautiful sea views and good breakfast served in the room, there is also a breakfast room that was a bit claustrophobic. Hotel is very well placed to visit the town.

Great location within easy walking distance of the wonderful beaches, town centre and the quaint old port area of Biarritz. Le Windsor itself is contemporary in style, spotlessly clean, has wonderful, attentive staff and offers a very good continental buffet breakfast. The only downside was totally of our own making in that we inadvertently booked a room without a view.....and got exactly what was described. As we arrived during an absolute downpour of rain, we didn't realise that the darkness of the room (#106) had nothing to do with the weather, but to it facing a concrete wall so it was constantly a very gloomy base. By craning our necks we could just make out a glimmer of sky but if we had our time again, we would have chosen a different type of room. Bathroom was very small and strangely was equipped with a tiny bath with only a hand held shower attachment making showering quite difficult! But that said, we'd definitely return to Le Windsor if we ever visit Biarritz again.

Dear Mike, Of course you can ask a lower floor when you reserve, not to take the lift. If you are not afraid by the stairs, we have a very big one! Hope to see you soon at the hotel!
