Sofitel Biarritz Le Miramar Thalassa Sea & Spa has garnered mixed feedback from guests. While the hotel's atmosphere is often described as welcoming with breathtaking views, some have noted that the vibe can seem a bit outdated. The cleanliness of the hotel has earned high marks, with the attentive cleaning staff keeping rooms in excellent condition. The amenities, especially the heated outdoor pool and valet parking, are popular among guests, although the spa has room for improvement. Opinions on the rooms are divided; they are recognized for their spaciousness but critiqued for occasional maintenance issues and dated decor. While the service is generally celebrated for its professionalism and friendliness, there have been mentions of sporadic lapses, particularly in the restaurant. Despite these strengths, many travelers feel that the value for money is lacking, citing overpriced services and facilities that do not meet luxury expectations.

Very expensive for the service received. The hotel needs renovation both on the exterior and on the rooms and terraces. It is not equivalent to a 5 star. Disappointed, since the photos do not correspond to reality. They also make you pay the full reservation as soon as you check-in in addition to a 200 euro surcharge per night. They don't explain it to you properly, apart from the fact that they don't know how to speak Spanish at reception.
In addition, we left some sunglasses (Rayban brand) in the restaurant and they did not appear when they initially confirmed to us that they were seen and one of the waiters had kept them.

This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. It overlooks the beach in Biarritz and many of the rooms have sea views. The bedrooms are spacious with full ensuite bathrooms, ie baths and showers not just tiny shower cubicles. Also our room had a separate loo which was very useful. Everywhere in the hotel is kept to a very high standard in terms of maintenance and everywhere is spotless. Undoubtedly this hotel's greatest asset is it's staff. Everyone was as helpful as possible, nothing was too much trouble but special mention must be made of Claude, the concierge who went out of his way to help us make the most of our stay but (sorry Claude) the accolade must go to the poor reception staff who had the misfortune to be on duty when Easyjet cancelled the flights of 6 ladies of a certain age with 5 hours notice. It is thanks to them that we made it home only 24 hours later than we should have arrived. They were absolutely marvellous, and we cannot praise them highly enough. They made an extremely stressful situation much easier because of their calm, helpful, kind and professional approach. Thank you so very much.

Run away! Run away! The photos are misleading!!! The hotel is very old, it gets water from everywhere and requires a lot of maintenance work (see my photos which are only a sampling...). We learned that it was for sale but that there was no buyer because there were co-ownership problems with apartments located in this complex. There is almost no one in the thalassotherapy section (over 3 hours we met 4 other people). The facilities are clearly dilapidated, the hammock is tiny and gloomy, the sauna is hidden behind the gym and is from another time (USSR style). The breakfast is not worthy of a 5 star (complete buffet but really classic). The rooms are large, no ventilation in the bathroom, 2 wall sockets (fortunately, there was a power strip), persistent smell of humidity, the frames do not close (noisy environment),... Everything is overwhelmed... 2 positive points: the situation and the staff (who tries to do what they can...). Room price +/- 750€ per night but it's not even worth 150€... We didn't try the restaurant (nor the room service), the prices are completely exaggerated! In conclusion, it's really lamentable!

We know this establishment, but it is the first time we bring our little dachshund with us.
Arrival at the reception during the Check in, we specify that we come with our little dog.
We pay an extra 30th per day which we gladly accept
I would like to point out that we are staying at this establishment for three days. Our arrival is linked to the accor group’s commitment to accept dogs throughout its network.
With our luggage in our room, we want to have a snack in the restaurant.
We see the manager of the bar very embarrassed who forbids us access for our dog... (I specify that our animal is 5kg and is in a bag...
Very amazed by the commitment of the group and this reality that does not correspond in any way..
With fair play our canine stayed in our room.
Our wish in view of Valentine’s Day was to dine consecutively at our hotel during these three days.
We are obliged to have dinner and lunch elsewhere which seems somewhat cavalier to me
This is really regrettable, especially since we pay a daily surcharge which is part of the specifications of the group accor
This is regrettable

I rate the Sofitel a 3 but it’s really only a 2 if I was to only judge the hotel. The location and the pool were the absolute highlight’s and for this we give a 5! Biarritz has a stunning coastline but please spend your money elsewhere! This hotel pretends to be a 5 star hotel with wellness spa. Thank goodness I had not planned my trip around the spa itself. I think if this was in Australia, it would be shut down.

When you take the lift to the spa , you arrive into a waste land! Depending on which way you arrive, it is a rabbit warren of empty corridors, closed doors with French signage! I couldn’t even find the toilet.

After paying $700 AUD for 3 treatments, you would expect a warm welcome, and someone assisting you to your next treatment. No not here, you are on your own (naked in a robe) trying to ask for directions to the next room however nobody speaks English. My treatment was booked with a Physiotherapist however I think she was barely qualified for a massage!

Highlights from my family were the soft robes and spacious rooms, big beds with cozy mattresses toppers and soft linen. Great valet and reception but that’s it for service. Pool is saltwater and perfectly cool! We could not find the indoor pool 😝

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the location, the pool, the spacious rooms, and the service provided by our valet and reception teams. We take your feedback seriously and will address these issues with our team to improve our services and facilities. Your experience does not reflect the high standards we strive to maintain, and we are committed to making the necessary improvements. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. Quality hotel with services that correspond to five stars, except perhaps the restaurant service. The rooms are large, the furniture is quality, the bed is excellent, the sea view from the large terrace is a plus. The bathroom lacks nothing except a few extra hooks, the two available being occupied by the bathrobes. The breakfast is excellent, lots of choice, salty, sweet. There is a device for reheating pancakes and small crepes, it's well thought out. On the other hand, scrambled eggs are not, you need to review the recipe and how to make them! We were at the restaurant for Valentine's Day. The special dinner was excellent, everything was well prepared, pretty on the plate with careful taste. Perfect. But the service was lousy, especially in a five star hotel, it's a bit harsh. I would like to believe that the customers all arrived at the same time for dinner, but if three people plus the manager cannot serve the thirty customers, we have to stagger the arrivals. because waiting almost an hour before having an aperitif is a lot even if the staff is charming. It's not enough. But the general impression remains very good for this hotel and we will return there.

I gave my friend an entrance to the Miramar Spa for her birthday, thinking of giving her a great time in a beautiful place so famous in Biarritz. That she was not my surprise when we arrived at the spa by the very average not to say unpleasant welcome of the person at the spa reception.
This continued at the time of visiting the facilities located on 2 levels very far apart but the tour is quickly done since the course boils down to an indoor swimming pool not very heated with broken tiles and mold in the corners , rust on the ceiling , in short nothing luxurious nor warm, we expect something else given the Award of admission .. the Hammam is also tasteless and does not want to last forever . Not even want to go to the spa located in the middle of the gym.!!
The only nice place is the outdoor pool, thanks to the beautiful weather , but here too the foam covers the inner edges , which is intolerable for a "luxury" establishment .
We did not test the restaurant as there was no brunch formula offered .. pity!
In short very disappointed and not at all want to come back!

Congratulations to the great thalassotherapy team and its director who ensure that I come back every year for a week’s treatment. All members of the team always have a smile on their faces, are adorable and provide excellent care. This should not always be obvious given the dilapidated nature of the premises and equipment. A big thank you especially to Coline, Cindy, Marie, Caroline for making my stay more pleasant.
As for the hotel, the team also does everything they can, but the rooms and common areas are in a pitiful state. A shame for a so-called 5-star Sofitel. The smells, the furniture, the ceilings, the floors, the walls, everything is falling apart. The direction? Is there one? Yes, at check out, which is a little late after a week's stay.
