Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
La Maison Des Tetes - Relais & Châteaux is celebrated for its exceptional service, with staff members who are efficient, professional, and typically friendly, although isolated cases of less than perfect interactions have been noted. The atmosphere marries historic charm with contemporary comforts, and while the decor may seem dated to some, the rooms are spacious and offer luxurious bedding. The hotel's cleanliness is exemplary, with guests consistently impressed by the immaculate conditions. Nestled in the heart of Colmar, the location earns high marks for its easy access to local attractions.
Room amenities are modern and appreciated, yet some guests have encountered issues. The breakfast and helpful staff are often highlighted positively, but limited services have been pointed out. Despite its many qualities, a number of guests feel that the high cost doesn't always equate to value, suggesting an experience that occasionally falls short of expectations.

Detailed Reviews
First, we started with a sketchy booking process where there weren’t any rooms available during our month of choice and we had to wait for openings, and we are glad we did. Driving up to the hotel, the car park is just past the hotel front on the right. There is a small sign visible for the car park. Make sure to request car park in advance, as the hotel will give you entry code access. Parking cost 15€ per day. Fanny, was in the car park to greet us and check us in. She was very pleasant. There is also an entry with code into the hotel through the car park, which is accessible after 10pm when the front entrance is closed.
We booked the Caracter suite. We were given room 204, which is at the front of the house and overlooks all the tourists taking pictures of the building. It is loud at night, but I don’t mind and my boyfriend wears earplugs. Our room is spacious and clean, the bathroom shower has rain or handheld option along with a large tub. The shower had great pressure and seemingly endless hot water. There is a towel warmer and nicely fragranced body wash and lotion. We received complimentary water and fresh made cake, which was simply delicious. The bed is comfortable and the room includes flat screen, safe, coffee maker and fridge.
We were told that there is a news stand near the cathedral that sells English language newspapers. The hotel front entrance is brilliantly decorated. We stayed in December and the town is shining brightly with holiday lights and decorations. You can’t look in any direction without seeing something picture worthy. There is a Monoprix (supermarket) a few steps away. The hotel is very central and a short walk from major attractions. The breakfast is typical buffet style with coffee and omelette made to order. I found the breakfast staff to be welcoming. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The interior hotel atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. The hotel outside is busy with many tourists photographing, which we found fun. Overall I loved our stay and highly recommend.

This is the second time I have stayed at this wonderful hotel, both times for multiple days. The rooms are well appointed and the staff is friendly and generous with their willingness to serve. It is beautiful and quiet. We love the location, the history and the breakfast is exceptional. Although we didn’t have a car, the secure car park right outside the back door is unheard of in this type of central location and made all our drives a pleasure to return to the hotel.
I cannot say enough praises for this hotel and I already want to return soon.

Hotel has a fabulous location in center of old town surrounded by shopping, sights, restaurants and an easy walk to train station. I warmer months inner courtyard looked like a delightful place to enjoy a glass of wine in evening, unfortunately we were here in October. We had the Charm room. The bathroom was well equipped with towel warmer, lighted make-up mirror, Frederic Malle bath products, robe, and slippers. Surprisingly some of the towels were frayed. There was large closet space, the room was well-lit and the dark out shades for night time were very effective. Our room overlooked the courtyard, and on some occasion there was loud voices at night that could be heard. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. A tray was served at the table cheese, meats, pastries, fruit, yogurt and granola with the option to add on freshly prepared egg dishes. If you have a car, there is a reserved parking area behind the hotel, which is gated. After 10pm at night you must enter back in the hotel through this security gate.

+1
I chose this hotel for restaurants to arrive being told both restaurants were closed and the only restaurant they could get us in was not the quality of food which would of been in the hotel restaurants, cafe style.
Offered no drinks on arrival, no bar in the hotel, rooms old and no view only brick wall, staff on duty were very rude - Maria. Charged for the car park when we had confirmation email telling us it was complimentary, told be to take it up with Relaise Chateau
The shower was dirty, tea bag had been opened and no other replaced.
The man at breakfast was miserable and did not smile, food basic.
We booked this hotel for the chain and the restaurants.
Very disappointed with the staff and spoilt the whole experience and was it cheap, very expensive.
Will not be visiting again and will tell friends not to bother

Dear Amanda G., We have well read you comment about your stay in our establishment. At your arrival you have benefit of an upgrade without any fees. We are surprises to see you came only for our restaurants, because no reservations was done under your name in one of our both restaurants. Moreover, we have sent to you an e-mail before your arrival to inform you that our both restaurants were closed during your stay. Our receptionnist have find a restaurant opened and make a reservation for you, even if it was a low season, with many closed restaurants. In your room you have got at free disposal coffee/tea machine and an home made cake. In fact we don’t have any bar, but we always propose you to have a drink in the lobby. Our receptionnists and our breakfast waiter have done their best to offer you kind service. Please accept apologise if it was not your impression. As mentionned on your written Booking.com reservation, where you have done reservatio and in our e-mail about parking place. It’s not free and costs 15.00 €uros. Our shower are not dirty. There is a difference between dirty and old. We are please to inform you our bathroom will be renovated during annual holidays. It’s the first time we have read such a thing about tea bag. We find it lamentable to fin dit on Tripadvisor & Booking.com rather than informing the receptionist who would have changed it immediately. Breakfast product answer to request of a 5 stars hotel. In fact, there are not a huge quantity of each product in order to avoid waste and have more fresh food. We stock the buffet according to the demand. Yours Faithfully, Marilyn & Eric Girardin - Manager

The positive is its location in the centre of Colmar in a historic building.
Welcome drink – a tasteless ice tea served at reception.
Breakfast just about acceptable but with a sense of “Economy” served in a dining room where I left our initials in the dust on the side of the table and on the decorative shelf above the table.
Impractical bathroom with no shower and no possibility of standing up above the bath and use it for a shower with minimal water pressure.
Bathroom light switch came off the wall and fell to the floor at first attempt at switching the bathroom light on as it had just been propped up in place instead of being renewed.
Limited access wifi that constantly requires one to connect back on.
No lounge or anywhere where you can be served a coffee or a drink.
The main restaurant was closed when we stayed there with the hotel pre warning that their fine dining restaurant is booked which turned out to be mostly by non guests as they came and blocked our car in at the car park in the evening.
If anyone is still wondering – no I would not return to this hotel as everything about it was “Economic” whether it is the provision of power points in the room, the lighting, the wifi and breakfast portions.

Centrally located in the old city in Colmar, this historic building is understated but casually elegant inside. There is a lovely courtyard that turns into an outdoor dining room for the Brasserie on nice days then a central modern area with a reception desk and a direct hallway to parking behind the building. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable--not very large but sufficient. The bed was firm and pillows excellent. There is a coffee maker and refrigerator in the room (although ours did not cool things very well) along with a bathroom and separate toilet. As far as I could tell, there are no athletic facilities there but plenty of options for jogging nearby. The breakfast was high quality and copious. To our surprise, the chef of the restaurant often assisted with serving breakfast.

BUT,
We had 3 days with virtually no usable wifi. The wifi repeatedly disconnected, sometimes as often as every minute or so. This made it almost impossible to get anything done that required a wifi connection. I spoke to the staff at the reception twice, and never once received any followup (when I inquired on day 2, I was told that they had “left a message about it”). The problem was never fixed, nor did anyone even bother to say “we’re looking into it.” We also asked the reception to make a dinner reservation for us, and when we didn’t hear anything, we were told “sorry, I forgot to let you know the restaurant is booked.” Seems like the sort of thing a 5-star hotel should be able to handle.
The hotel shuts off air-conditioning at midnight as a measure to “reduce environmental impact.” It was warm while we were there, so when we awakened in the middle of the night, it felt as if the room temperature had risen 10 degrees. It seems as if there should be other ways to reduce environmental impact without compromising guest comfort.

Dear HM_from_NH , We would like to thank you for taking the time to share with us your impressions of your visit to the Maison des Têtes. We are delighted to read that you were satisfied with the breakfast service, and will pass on your positive feedback to the teams. We are sorry to hear that the size of your room was not sufficient. We have 3 categories of rooms. Perhaps a higher category room would have better met your expectations. We're also sorry to hear about the problems with the wifi connection. During your stay, we changed our wifi interface for a new, more efficient one. The installation took longer than expected, but any connection problems encountered by our guests were passed on to the technician who did his best to resolve them. We understand, however, that this problem impacted on your stay. Regarding your requests for restaurant reservations, be assured that we have passed on your comment to the dedicated teams. All our teams work daily to take care of our guests. The satisfaction of our guests is our greatest reward. On the subject of air conditioning, we're sorry that the temperature in your room was too high at night. Turning off the air conditioning at night is a management decision. We look forward to welcoming you again. Yours respectfully Marilyn TANGUY GIRARDIN & Eric GIRARDIN - Managers

Maison des Tetes is absolutely one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Our room was a character room which was large by European standards with a great work area as well as room to relax in. The staff were exceptionally polite and efficient, the bathrooms were newly renovated and spotlessly clean and the ambience of the building wonderful. The breakfast was fabulous and the little complimentary touches very thoughtful. The location in the old town is perfect and we were very glad we had chosen to stay for three nights. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to return

We have booked this hotel as it is a Relais et Chateau, a brand we trust. Going straight to the point, we have spent an excellent stay at the hotel. From Catherine at the evening reception to Sadia at the morning breakfast, everything is made to satisfy each and every request you may have. Marylin and Eric Girardin also offer an incredible experience at the Michelin star restaurant where the sommelier and chef de rang are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Frankly, we have discovered a “must go” place in Colmar.
All best wishes to all at MT, you are doing a great job at following your passion.

My family and I spent a weekend in this wonderful hotel and absolutely loved it. The staff is extremely friendly and caring; they always take extra care of you; making the service excellent.
The rooms are beautiful and the beds are really comfortable. Breakfast was also greatly managed. I must say that in these covid 19 times, it was certainly the best breakfast I have eaten so far. It’s well organized and they still have a lot of choice of local specialities.
We also ate at the one michelin star restaurant in the hotel and I would very much recommend it! It is a nine course menu and there is a vegetarian option that we loved. Once again, the service was fantastic (the chef himself takes all the orders and asks if any client wants an alteration in their menu).
