A beautiful building in a nice position overlooking the canal in a nice Alsacienne town with lot's of great buildings and canals etc . The hotel has a lot of character and the common areas serve local drinks etc . I understood the restaurant is excellent but we ate externally . the room I had was very small , Roof...

This very quaint hotel overlooking the river can deceive your initial response. It oozes with historical charm with narrow corridors and 4 poster beds. It has an excellent restaurant and very friendly and cooperative staff. Some of the rooms are small and there appeared little if any resident lounge areas on our visit. No hotel parking but there is a...

Almost great, but would have thought the shower could have had an attachment on the wall, instead were forced to squat in a bath holding the shower. The other room we had was perfect. Breakfast a waste of time. No meat or eggs to be seen despite a long list of things supposedly offered. Service average. Just take a short...

I wouldn't change a thing, it was perfect. Smack in the center of Colmar, in a really typical Alsace house with very friendly staff. We did not eat there but had a drink at the entrance. I have friends that dined there and they said it was excellent.

We stayed at the Marechal between on the weekend between Christmas and New Years. We got a great rate on a family room in the annex, with access to all hotel amenities. The annex room (Suite 2) was large, airy, and spotlessly clean. Our kids had their own bedroom with twin beds and the bathroom was huge with a shower....

Charming, top class romantic hotel in the "little Venice" quarter of Colmar. Nice and quiet, we had a room overlooking a canal, still lightened by the Christmas decorations. The restaurant is also top class, breakfast buffet is extraordinary in offering and freshness. And although the timing is 'till 10 it won't be cleared until you're through. Staff very friendly.

We've stayed in the Marechal for a number of years now, on and off, during our annual winter pilgrimage to the Austrian mountains. The hotel externally pushes winter kitsch to almost its limits (and its up against some pretty tough competition in a Christmas-decked Colmar), covered in cotton wool snow and cuddly polar bears. The interior however combines old and...

My husband and I enjoyed our four-night stay in this quaint hotel. For 150 euros/night we had room 35, quite a large space on an upper floor with a queen-size bed, a huge double wardrobe, a desk and chair, round table with chair, and high double window from which we had what must be one of the most charming views...

Situated in the old town, next to a canal but just far enough from the crowded tourist areas this family run hostel has to be experienced. Everything functions in a creaky old way, the rooms are small as can be expected but the air of times long past compensate for any shortcomings. The food was excellent and dining just next...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tranquility of a village at the water’s edge, right in the centre of town. Old, half-timbered houses, balconies heaped with flowers, weeping willows which dip their boughs into the Lauch waters… this is the heart of Colmar, the old quarter which is so picturesque that it has been called “Little Venice”. Constructed in 1565 on the fortified walls which encircle the old town (11th century), the Hostellerie « Le Maréchal » welcomes you to the center of this enchanting spot. Everything about the place has charm, tranquility, elegance and courtesy. Why not try a four poster bed from the yesterdays ? The owners, Family BOMO, will personally ensure your comfort. The 30 Rooms and suites are nostalgic, furnished with good brocades and antiques, but with 21st century conveniences : TV LCD HD (international chanels), WIFI, Minibar, Phone, Individual Air Conditioning, WC, Safe, Hair Dryer, all equiped with bath (some with whirpool bathroom) and shower (some with massage shower). ... more   less
