Location is spot on less than 10min walk from train station in virtually a straight line, so easy to find. Note the door to the hotel remain close at all times, once you have a key just swipe in but on arrival call the button to the right hand side and reception let you straight in. All staff where pleasant and friendly special shout out to Bernadette who checked us in she was full of beans and really postive, checked us in to our room in good time we didnt feel like we was being rushed she told us all we needed to know, and even actually showed alot of interest into why we was in Manchester, she was extra helpful when we got locked out, our key card just stopped working but she sorting it straight away for us and was so apologetic even though wasn't her fault.
The room itself was clean and tidy, although a bit warm on arrival, so we had to turn the heater off. The bedding was clean and smelled fresh, but we did notice that the mattress protector was a little grubby and could probably use a change. We had a nice view of the garden, and while the windows were a bit dirty and could perhaps benefit from a net curtain for privacy, these were not major issues.
Breakfast was good, a standard buffet with cereal and fruit options. For the price, it was excellent value, and the food was regularly topped up, hot, and fresh. While not the highest quality, it was certainly satisfactory for the cost. The rest of the hotel also appeared to be in good repair. Despite overlooking the garden and main road, the evenings were quiet, and we slept well. The bed was comfortable, with two pillows each, and while no bed compares to home comforts, it was fine for our two-night stay.
Overall was a good stay, can't go wrong - we found it to be good value for Money.
Charlotte and Bernadette on reception were both very friendly and welcoming, and couldn’t do enough for us, supplying top ups of tea, milk and hot chocolate for our room (great to have tea / coffee making facilities in the room!). We’d booked a double room, but they swapped it for a twin room with 2 separate beds without any fuss and at no extra cost. The room was spacious, clean and well-maintained, with a huge shower room, perfect for our stay. The only negative (hardly worth mentioning) was that the view out of our window was the drab inside of the building and a flat roof. It could do with some Banksy-type murals to brighten it up! 🤣
The location, just 10 minutes walk from the station, is ideal for a visit to Central Manchester.
We ate our evening meal in the dining room, which is very pleasant and well-maintained. We had pizzas which were huge & tasty, with plenty of good toppings. My grandson only managed half of his, but they gave us a takeaway box so we could finish it the following day so nothing was wasted.
Breakfast was of a very good standard- self-service, all-you-can-eat. I have not much better in far more expensive hotels. A very wide choice, from fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals, croissants, etc. and an excellent “full English” selection: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage (and veggie alternatives), tomatoes & hash browns, all beautifully cooked and well presented - all very delicious, perfect fuel for a wet Manchester morning!
Well done Travelodge; I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else if I come back to Manchester: simply the best value in town!

The room itself was poor, no shower gel / shampoo, in fact the dispenser was broken and coming off the wall. No soap - again broken dispenser, you could not alter the temperature of the shower / bath even if you wanted to wash, in fact the control comes off in your hand. All reported to reception first thing in the morning, who just seemed to write the room number on a scrap piece of paper. Upon return at 7pm, nothing had been done, in fact nobody had even visited the room to clean / tidy it or remove cups etc (even with the “clean me” label left out).
Raised with reception again, who were more apologetic this time, but just provided 2 paper cups full of watery liquid. This is obviously what goes in the dispensers, but is no use in liquid form as the dispensers themselves are what makes the foaming lotion. So 2 full days where we were unable to shower in an apparent “SuperRoom”.
View from room overlooked about 10 other rooms - so I have nod idea what view a basic room would have.
Plates and bowls used for breakfast were filthy, breakfast was basic (to be expected) some aspects inedible. Juice dispenser not working.
Location was good for city access, although an edgy area at night with multiple gangs of homeless and foreign deliveroo riders loitering around
Our family of 4 needed a room for the weekend and this hotel more than fitted the bill. A comfortable double bed and 2 singles for the kids (12 & 15 ) were ideal and more than affordable when compared to other hotels within the vicinity.
What We Loved:
Excellent Location: Walking distance to major attractions, shopping, and nightlife.
Friendly Staff: The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.
Clean and Comfortable Rooms: The room was basic but clean, comfortable, and perfect for a short city break. Great shower !
Great Value for Money: You can't beat the price for the location and convenience. Breakfast was 10 pounds for adults and the kids were free !
Points to Consider:
Basic Amenities: As a budget hotel, the amenities are basic. Don't expect luxurious extras.
The hotel's central location means some street noise is possible, especially on weekends, however in our case on the 4th floor we were totally oblivious to all the happenings outside.
We were right across the way from the Christmas markets - which were lovely - expensive but lovely.
The Travelodge Manchester Piccadilly is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize location and value for money. It provides a clean, comfortable base for exploring all that Manchester has to offer. The staff are lovely and welcoming which is always a good start to any trip !
One other tip is to buy a weekend family pass for the Tram system - for £9.50 for all zones, its unbelievable value and is 30 seconds walk from the hotel.
We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and convenient stay in the city.

Inside the entrance are 2 lifts and a flight of stairs which take you upto the next floor where the reception is located.
The team members at Travelodge Manchester Piccadilly give a warm welcome during the booking in process at reception.
I can honestly say that each and every team member I've come across throughout my stay here has been welcoming, helpful and gone the extra mile to make my stay here enjoyable and relaxing.
My immaculate room, with crisp clean white bedding and comfy bed delivered on a great nights sleep. My 3rd floor room had a huge window which faced out over Piccadilly Gardens; the fantastic view was matched only by the superb soudproofed windows!
I genuinely recommend staying here as from arriving to leaving and everything in-between my stay was as perfect as I could've ever wanted and it was the staff who really made the difference; Rooms in Travelodges are mostly similar from my experience and so my glowing review is for the fantastic staff at Piccadilly Gardens!
