I've read some of the recent reviews but I take the approach that you get what you pay for. The staff were all nice, the pub upstairs was good, and all in all it was a solid hostel. Value-wise this place is hard to beat in Manchester.

The only reason I am giving this a two-star is because the bunk bed room in which I stayed in with a large group had plastic covered mattresses and clean bedding laid out for us. Apart from that, the place is grimy, mould everywhere, stains, broken door handles, dust and muck on the walls and floors, un-emptied bins in fresh... More

I accompanied mates to this "hostel?" I dodged a bullet by having already decided to stay elsewhere. Words cannot describe the state of this place. The reservations indexing system seemed to be writen on cardboard, the entrance should be condemed, the hallways are just disgusting and the rooms, well. Unless you are homeless and in dire straits there is not... More

Dear visitors, if you don't mind 'little things' mentioned below, you are probably very hygienic resistant. You know, I don't mind old stuff, furniture, I don't need something special in hostel, I'm student, but, oh my god, at least a clean and tidy room! Bathroom - toilet doesn't work - shower doesn't work - a lot of dirt, grease and... More

Disgusting room - clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long long time. Most of the lights didn't work, all the door handles were falling off and the entire building had a nasty smell. The bathroom was equally as bad, with just as many stains on the floor, mould on the ceiling and the bath was falling apart.

We booked this as we were going to the cricket at Old Trafford, not too bad considering we only paid 20 quid to stay here, wasn't the cleanest, and only 1 plug socket in an 8 bed dorm, so if you're booking in a group bring a 3 way plug. You get a 25% discount at the bar though, mind... More

Friends booked this as a cheap hotel in the city. It has a great location with all places just a cheap cab away, the hotels own bar has friendly staff with discounted prices for hotel guests. I think the discount may be the only highlight of my stay! To state a few of my discoveriesI, mould on the bath mats,... More

Stayed here with a bunch of friends as we were heading for a gig in Manchester. It was only £15 per person for the night so we weren't expecting it to be particularly luxurious but we weren't quite prepared for the level of uncleanliness that we found. The room was filthy with stains and damp patches all over the carpet.... More

The location is great, 5 minutes walk from the Manchester Central venue, plenty of bars, restaurant and supermarkets all around. The gentleman who checked me in was quite friendly but usually there is nobody at the reception: if you need anything you need to go to the pub (as I did). The room itself was ok but it really needed... More

Hands down the worst place I have ever stayed. Stains on all the walls, floors & ceilings. Our carpet was damp, presumably from where sick had been cleaned up or beer was spilled. You get what you pay for but that was worse than £15.00 I paid. Would never stay here again.
