Detailed Reviews
New Marriott/Bonvoy group hotel opened within five minutes easy walking distance from Picadilly train and trams and Picadilly Gardens bus stops and all Central Manchester amenities.
Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Rooms have a modern design with adequate storage, bathroom with “rain” shower, and both fresh coffee and tea (kettle) provided. The TV has lots of additional channels, including several Sky Sports options. Bed is very comfortable with a soft, but warm duvet and great pillows.
The restaurant offering is somewhat different as a selection of “small plates” are offered tapas style. This probably works well with a group but is not so good for the single traveller. There are no traditional options (such as burgers, fish and chips, steaks, salads, etc) either in the restaurant or bar or on the room service menu. Nevertheless the staff are welcoming and the food tasty with a typical hotel price tag. The facilities seem poorly used in the evenings and if there were more diners, then the place would feel more alive. I enjoyed breakfast which was cooked freshly to order, with great coffee and plenty of fruit, cereal and bread selections on the buffet.
The hotel works very well if visiting Central Manchester and travelling into Piccadilly and I will definitely return for the location, comfort and friendly staff.

Dear yhi904, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and detailed review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed our location and found our proximity to Piccadilly Station, trams, and central Manchester amenities convenient for your visit. It’s wonderful to hear you felt warmly welcomed upon arrival and enjoyed the room amenities, from the rain shower and in-room coffee and tea options to the comfortable bedding and wide range of TV channels. We aim to create a space that feels modern and relaxing, so we’re pleased that these features added to your stay. We also appreciate your feedback on our restaurant offerings. Our small-plates menu is designed to create a shared dining experience, though we understand that single travellers may prefer more traditional options. Your insights are incredibly valuable, and we’ll certainly take them into consideration to create a more lively and inviting atmosphere in the evenings. It’s fantastic to hear you enjoyed the freshly prepared breakfast and that our selection of coffee, fruits, and cereals met your expectations. We’re grateful for your kind words about our staff’s hospitality as well, they’ll be thrilled to know they made a positive impact on your stay. Thank you once again for your lovely review and for choosing to stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for another comfortable and enjoyable stay whenever you’re in Manchester. I have now stayed at the Reach Piccadilly on several occasions and found it to be a consistently great hotel. Staff are reception provide a warm welcome and efficient check in/out. Recognition of Bonvoy status is good.
Rooms are comfortable and have plenty of hanging and storage space. A safe is provided adequate laptop and other bits n pieces, The bathroom has a great power shower. Beds are comfortable and have plenty of good quality pillows and snug duvet. Plenty of power sockets are available for charging the ever increasing number of bits of technology including both 13a and USB-A sockets by both sides of the bed.
Breakfast is what really sets this property apart with several hot options which are freshly prepared - it is great to have a breakfast which has NOT been standing on a buffet for some time. Ingredients including bacon and sausage are good quality and tasty. There is also a limited choice of juices, cereals, fruit and pastries - but with the cooked option being the “main performance” the other items are very much secondary.
The hotel is within a few minutes walking distance of Piccadilly station for trains and trams, Piccadilly Gardens for buses and all the main shops including the Arndale Centre.
And all this comes with a “value for money” price tag.
Definitively be back!

Ticks a lot of boxes and was reasonably priced mid-week at ~£100 per night including breakfast. A casual brand of the Bonvoy chain, with what felt like a brand new, modern interior that is well-located for Piccadilly and the Northern Quarter. Rooms with balcony probably won’t get much use in Manchester, but the rooms may be slightly bigger. Mine was an odd layout that I found a little strange in a new hotel. Breakfast is an a good a la carte menu with a limited buffet cart offering - needs to be competitive given the plethora of options in Manchester but it’s certainly worth it if travelling on business.

Dear tehowlett1, Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your stay at The Reach at Piccadilly, Manchester. It means a great deal to us that you found our hotel to be a modern, well-located choice that offered good value, especially with our mid-week pricing including breakfast. We’re delighted that our location worked well for you, being so close to Piccadilly and the vibrant Northern Quarter. These areas are at the heart of Manchester’s charm, and it’s always a pleasure to know that our guests are able to make the most of their time exploring the city. It’s also wonderful to hear that you appreciated our contemporary interiors. As part of the Tribute Portfolio within the Bonvoy collection, we aim to combine modernity with comfort, and we’re pleased this resonated with you. Your mention of the balcony and room layout is valuable feedback. While we aim to offer a variety of room types to suit different preferences, we understand that some layouts may feel less intuitive, and we will consider this as we continue to refine our guest experience. We’re especially glad that our breakfast offerings stood out to you. Our goal is to provide a balanced selection that caters to varying tastes and preferences. While the limited buffet cart is designed to complement the a la carte menu, we’ll certainly take your note into account as we strive to remain competitive in Manchester’s dynamic dining scene. Your insights and constructive feedback are incredibly valuable to us, and they help us in our commitment to providing exceptional stays for all our guests. Thank you once again for choosing The Reach at Piccadilly, and we truly hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Manchester, whether for business or leisure. hugely disappointed with this property after reading so many positive reviews and looking forward to experiencing the hotel and a new brand. check in was underwhelming, no greeting as Loyalty Member, and the room allocated was not what was booked. Apart from being the wrong type of room, it was barely large enough to swing a cat. Hot water was not available any morning before 630am - crazy for a business hotel, but on the upside, when there was hot water, the shower water pressure was tremendous. A written complaint took over 24 hours to be answered, and to be fair the room situation was addressed but honestly the rooms here are very small, even compared to many 'budget' chains. The aesthetics of the hotel are very good, but the TVs in both of my rooms had very poor signal and many channels not available - and one of the elevators does look rather secondhand. I did not use the bar or Restaurent so cannot comment on those elements. Granted I did receive an apology by eMail, and some goodies in my room - but this experience has put me off the Bonvoy Marriott chain (after a couple of other not quite so good experiences) and my loyalty returns to another chain - already Marriott have lost out as this weeks trip to France was not in their accommodation. It would be good for each establishment to remember that an individual experience can impact future accommodation decisions, and that it may be a decision maker regarding travel policy that is staying with them.

Dear GlobalTourist66, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. I’m genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with us fell below your expectations, especially after the positive reviews you had read. Your comments regarding the check-in experience, room allocation, and lack of acknowledgment as a Loyalty Member are particularly concerning, as these are areas where we aim to exceed expectations. I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the room size and the issue with hot water availability in the mornings – I can understand how frustrating this must have been, especially during a business stay. While I’m glad that the room situation was eventually addressed and that you appreciated the aesthetics of the hotel, it’s disappointing to hear about the challenges with the TV signal and the elevator’s condition. Rest assured, I’ll be sharing your feedback with the relevant teams to ensure these issues are reviewed and resolved promptly. Whilst this feedback is unacceptable and certainly not the standard we strive for, it is against the general consensus of guest experiences since our opening in July. We are proud of the many positive reviews and compliments we’ve received from our valued guests, and I’m truly sorry your visit did not reflect the same. We would welcome the opportunity to put things right and regain your trust. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at Guest.Relations@thereachmcr.com so we can discuss this further and ensure your concerns are addressed fully. Best regards, Peter Nye General Manager The Reach at Piccadilly, Manchester

Despite a ridiculous pre-arrival email (presumably the responsibility of a buffoon at Group rather than Hotel level), our stay here was otherwise pretty much as good as it gets.
My Platinum status was recognised on arrival by the outstanding, friendly and extremely well organised female receptionist (no name badge so no name check) who made us very welcome on our short visit back 'home' to see family. She also dealt with a room amenities request with remarkable efficiency and her usual charm.
There were a handful of small glitches with the room but nothing of any substance that spoilt our stay. Everything is shiny and new as you would expect, but fixtures, fittings and toiletries have all been chosen with care and some expense: there is no style over substance here: the room functions well and provides a peaceful, relaxing stay.
Particular credit to the hotel for providing HD TV with a comprehensive selection of SKY channels, including all the SKY and TNT sports which so many other Manchester hotels fail to do. Although the hotel is ideally located to serve visitors to the home of the Four-in-a-Row Premier League Champions, if they're playing away from The Etihad, you'll be able to watch from the comfort of your room.
We paid under £100 a night which was outstanding value.
Location is particularly good for arrivals into Piccadilly Station as you are able to avoid the shameful Piccadilly Gardens - a blight that Manchester Council has failed to address in the forty years since I moved to another city - by walking into/from the City Centre via Dale Street.
Checkout was equally seamless and friendly although again, no badge so no name check.
In summary: really good; many thanks to all.

This is a new hotel within a couple of minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. The rooms are quite compact with limited storage space but are fine for a short stay. As it is new, all the facilities are in very good condition. The bathroom has a very good walk-in shower and a mirror that doesn't get steamed up. The towels are nice and fluffy. It would have been helpful if a toilet brush had been provided given the design of the toilet! The bed was harder than I would like but not too hard. The breakfast buffet appeared limited but actually it had everything I needed - several cereals, fresh fruit, bread, croissants, jam, fruit juice and hot drinks. You can also choose one hot dish from an extensive menu. The food was excellent quality. There are lots of staff who are very friendly and keen to provide good service. Overall I would say that this is an excellent hotel.

I was disappointed with our stay at The Reach this weekend. While the location of the hotel is very handy for Piccadilly Station, and the decor is very modern and fresh, the value for money I feel was poor for the room that we got during our stay.
We booked a 2 x Double Deluxe rooms with a City View at £215 per room per night. When we arrived at the room after a slow check-in, we found that our rooms (225 and 227) were small, dark and in one of the rooms the layout was just bizarre - with no window in the main bed area and a small tight walkway down to the wardrobe. I do not think these rooms were deluxe - you could barely see out the window in 227 because the glass had already blown.
I did ask reception if there were any alternative rooms that we could move to as the rooms were very different to what was advertised and we were offered a swap for one, which we were grateful for (albeit the window situation didn’t improve and so the new room (215) was still very dark).
It was a shame we couldn’t also move the other (227) as the air con didn’t work very well in that room, and the shower was also plumbed in wrong (the rainfall and hose were the wrong way round on the tap) so overall not a great room experience.
I think had we booked a room with a balcony or a suite, our experience would’ve been very different. Those rooms look to have a lot more natural light and a more comfortable layout.

Dear Charlotte W, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at The Reach. We sincerely apologize that your recent stay did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’re disappointed to hear that our service and room arrangements left you unsatisfied. We’re glad you appreciated our convenient location and modern decor, but it’s clear that several aspects of your stay fell short, particularly regarding room layout and functionality. Our Deluxe City View rooms are designed with comfort and style in mind, and we apologize that Room 227 did not meet these standards. The window and air conditioning issues you described, as well as the shower arrangement, should not have impacted your experience, and we’ll be addressing these concerns with our maintenance team immediately. While we’re pleased our team could offer an alternative room, we understand this adjustment didn’t fully resolve the lack of natural light and room size that you were expecting. Should you consider staying with us again, we’d love the chance to provide you with a more comfortable stay. Our suites and balcony rooms do indeed offer additional light and space, and we would be happy to discuss room options with you directly to find the best match for your needs. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We hope to welcome you back to a much-improved experience at The Reach. The Reach at Piccadilly is a new hotel and hence residents have all the benefits that this affords – good sized, well-appointed rooms, a bar and restaurant. It offers what they describe as a “superb breakfast” and this indeed is the case with a wide range of cereals, drinks, bread, fruit together with a freshly made cooked breakfast – quite delightful and would set you up for the day.
The hotel is wonderfully located in the centre of Manchester with shops, bars entertainment etc. close by and yet, it offers a safe and peaceful haven from city noise. The staff throughout the hotel are attentive and personable and willing to help with local attractions, directions travel arrangements etc.
We will have the need to revisit Manchester on a few occasions in the future and would , without doubt, choose to return to The Reach at Piccadilly – highly recommended!

Really enjoyed our five-night stay.
Entrance to the hotel is on a quiet street. On the opposite side of the hotel is an open air car park where we parked the car. You can pay for the parking by app or at a machine on departure. Whilst there is plenty of space in the car park, it was pretty full by mid-morning on a week-day (my room looked out on to the car park), so earlier or later in the day to get a spot would be your best bet. That being said the hotel emailed me a list of all the various nearby parking garages and there are plenty of them - I chose the one behind the hotel because I couldn't be bothered to download yet another parking app - many of them required payment exclusively through their app.
Check-in was quick and friendly. Room was on the sixth floor (I think there were about 10 floors). Very quiet, both within and outside the hotel. As the hotel is newly opened everything is clean, fresh and works. The layout and fitting of the room had been very carefully thought out to maximise the use of space. Adequate size room, nice bathroom (shower, no bath), no views to speak of (looking over the car park, with the plus though that I could keep an eye on the car, not that the adjoining area in any way felt unsafe).
Didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, plenty of nearby alternatives, although the restaurant looked really nice, over-looking a canal.
Front desk staff were very friendly, greeting us on departure and arrival.
Check out quick and friendly.
In summary, a new hotel in a great quiet location with friendly staff. Would stay again.

We had a great stay at the Reach, all staff were friendly, courteous and provided a high level of customer service. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable and there were lots of available amenities.
The hotel itself is in a central location making it easy to get out and about and we enjoyed a top notch breakfast in the restaurant. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
