The room was facing the city centre and overlooked the river, nice.
The room was showing its age a tad and needed a bit of a spring clean (windows and cill with some dead and live (now dead😁) small flies on it (right next to a river I’d expect that).
Rest was clean with a chair and plenty of storage for the weekend and indeed for a weeklong stay.
We paid for an all u can eat breakfast which had enough choice with a number of vegetarian options too (including sausages) although we’re not veggies. Michael was really helpful, explaining it all and greeting us as soon as we arrived. He also made time to say goodbye too, a really nice touch.
This hotel is our number 1 Choice if we need to stay in central Manchester (easy access to the Arena, Xmas markets, city centre shops and offices. A bit of a walk (15 mins) provides access to Bridgewater hall, opera house etc.
We chose 24hrs parking under a covered area of the car park, perfect.
All in all a great place to stay which would easily earn 5 stars with a bit of a room refurb and more thoroughly cleaned bedroom 👍 Still 5 stars for overall value though.
Check-in was very straightforward. You have to validate your parking on a tablet at the desk, which only takes a few clicks and is easy to do. Then I went to my room on the second floor, and found a comfortable double bed made up neatly with clean linens, and some fresh towels at the foot of the bed. The view out of the window was of the car park, but I wasn't there to enjoy a picturesque skyline, so that's okay. Curtains got drawn anyway since I was getting changed.
The room has a desk with a TV, and a kettle, cups, spoons, tea, coffee, sugar, sweetener and milk are all provided. I made myself a coffee - they provided decaf which is great as I can't have caffeine, however couldn't see any decaf tea (I should have just gone downstairs and asked, that's on me) - and started to get ready to go out, making use of the bathroom to wash my face and put my makeup on.
Generally the bathroom was clean, but I did notice some mildew around the body wash dispenser on the wall by the bath. I let the staff downstairs know about this on check-out. Otherwise I was happy with the bathroom's cleanliness, and after I returned from the graduation venue I enjoyed a late-night bath. Water runs nice and hot, no complaints whatsoever about that - just as I like. I didn't sleep well, but that's because I was on my phone till 3am. The bed itself is very comfortable and I would have had no trouble sleeping if it wasn't for the fact that I'm a chronically online millennial addicted to Pokemon videos.
In the morning I went downstairs for breakfast, which I had booked alongside my room, and was met by staff member Mike who attended to the needs of all the guests. He was very courteous and thorough, often checking in with guests to make sure they were happy and if they needed anything. I had a hot breakfast of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans, which was all delicious. I managed to fit in a yoghurt and half a bagel as well as a coffee. Coffee syrup was provided, so I might have put a fair bit of caramel into my latte - gorgeous.
Overall my stay here was pleasant and met my needs. All I would like to see in future is a touch more attention to cleanliness. Thank you for accommodating me!
Opted in for unlimited breakfast 2 adults £20 kids eat free, Have been to a few travelodges and this is by far cleanest breakfast area by far, some look like a food fight has ensued!!
Mike I'm the breakfast area is polite, helpful and runs a good show.
Definitely be back
I had to call the hotel for help in directions but beware the hotel chain phone line will charge a high premium rate on your mobile network.
The hotel car park has very limited spaces, so first come first served and if you pay for parking and then leave and come back, you may find your space is no longer available and you will have to pay for parking again at one of the Neighbouring car parks if you can’t get in.
My room was clean, tidy and large, very well laid out, and bathroom and shower areas were nicely done and hygienically cleaned, with fresh towels laid out on the beds,
However, the whole room smelled of unclean human and needed a lot more airing and freshening up, so windows were opened to assist with this process.
On the plus side, the room had plenty of usb ports which was extremely useful to me and anyone travelling who has multiple devices, and plug sockets were also in abundance.
The hand gel irritated my skin, so be ware if you have sensitive skin and bring some hand cream , and ie additional soaps to counteract this issue.
The hotel charge for wifi service after a free 30mins trial period which other hotel chains and AirBnB’s don’t charge for this service. Fortunately for me I could use my own data and the signal was good.
The hotel staff on my visit were very helpful and courteous and the after hours meal deal was reasonably priced, although the choices at breakfast were slightly limited it was ok.
On the time of my visit, I was able to work in my room in peace and quiet, which was important to me.
Overall for the standard of the hotel and the points of criticism I’ve highlighted, I think 4/5 stars is adequate and the review for any visitors to it is a fair one to assess.
Great location near the shops close to everything we wanted to see like the Armadale
Everything in the room was good the bed was comfy the tv was good. Having a bath in the room was unexpected but a pleasant surprise.
Breakfast is good value for money at £10 each with lots of selection. Mike was very good showed us where everything was and was very attentive with plates and such. All in all very good place to stay would recommend :)
For such a basic low budget room, I cannot believe I allowed them to charge me over £160 for two nights without breakfast. I will never use them again, anywhere.
We parked at the Travelodge, it is first come first serve. There were 2 x spaces when we arrived and it was good price.
** The carpark is small and cramped. Very tricky to get in and out of spaces between the pillars so be careful
On arrival Mandy and Tom greeted us at reception giving us a quick bit of info and the cards for our rooms. Nice to have real people welcome you. I had brought an iron and they gave me an ironing board that I could take to the room.
* The ironing board however does need a new cover. Had to put a towel over the top and cover as so thin I was ironing straight in metal.
Room was a good size and clean
* Bathroom tiles need some bleaching to kill small spots of black mould that builds up from lack of ventilation
We had paid for breakfast in advance. A young lady and a man Mike were there to greet and help us. Food was very nice, I had some of fry up, granola and fruit and a croissant and orange juice
Mandy and Tom were on reception when we handed in our keys, again very cheerful and happy.
If you want somewhere central, convenient, clean with nice staff Travelodge is perfectfor the odd night
The staff were friendly and helpful.
There is parking available underneath the hotel which is limited but we had no issue getting a space and was a bargain at £10 for 24 hours.
We included breakfast which was your standard full english and continental with friendly staff to assist. We had the pleasure of meeting Mike who although was on his own during the rush hour breakfast run was lovely, helpful and still get the tables cleaned and croissants toasted :)
There is also a bar for any late night or pre going out refreshments. And there is vending machines in the entrance with juice and sweets for anyone who needs a sugar rush.
Overall great experience and will definetly be back.
