Great evening meal in the restaurant 1st night, thoughtful menu very well executed at reasonable prices and served by top notch well motivated waiting team. Breakfast selection not massive (no meat or cheese on a continental buffet???) but what was available was very good quality and again we were cared for by great friendly staff. Given a really nice sized...

We booked a double room for one night. We only had one bedside table, there was sufficient room for both. It was difficult drinking my early morning cuppa. Fortunately my wife gave me her Ipad to use on the bed as a coaster. I informed reception when checking out, they didn't seem too fussed. This hotel is well situated in...

I have to give a rating of terrible due to the diabolical service we received on checkout. The visit was a weekend shopping/theatre Christmas present booked October 2016 for 2 nights via the Malmaison website with the addition of the dining package added and paid for upfront and subsequently our table booked in the restaurant. On check in I had...

This morning I arrived at the Malmaison to deliver a training course. When I checked in there were a few blank faces and then finally I found out that there was no record of a booking for the organisation I was representing at the venue. I'm sure in these circumstances most venues would have just shrugged their shoulders, but not...

2nd visit and it did not disappoint! the room, the service and especially the staff were all great! there is nothing better than a smiling face even under service pressure and the staff at the Mal Manchester knew how to deliver just that! we will be back soon!

Location is excellent. 1 minute walk from the Picacdilly train station. Paid £125 for twin room for 1 night stay (that did not include breakfast). Room is lovely, bed very comfortable, bathroom and room very clean with a great shower. No noise bleed and plenty of snacks and drinks available in room for mini bar. Negative thing is I requested...

The hotel is beautiful and very conveniently located. I stayed here with my partner in one of the Manchester suites as part of a date night package. The suite was sumptuous to say the least. We also both had treatments in the spa, which were excellent, before heading for a delicious dinner in the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this...

The staff were great, they couldn't help enough. The spa facilities were alright, they have massage chairs which are really good, but one of the steam rooms were too hot, as soon as you walked it, the floor was that hot, you had to get back out again. My husband had a cooked breakfast and there wasn't that much there....

Thank you for a lovely stay, we checked in on 17th April for the Bank Holiday and we had the Sunday Stay offer. The room was lovely and very clean and the beds/bedding were very comfy! We had a table booked in the restaurant for 7.45pm but we wanted to try and bring the time earlier so we contacted reception...

Arrived for a girlie weekend, we arrived really early but we were delighted our room was already ready. Staff were lovely at check in. Our room was lovely and the location of this hotel is perfect. Right near the train station and a stones throw from the shops. The breakfast was so good each morning. Eggs benedict were gorgeous. Would...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
