We stayed here for a Valentines treat and we were not disappointed. The hotel is stylish, clean and crisp after its refurbishment and the service was to match. On arrival we were greeted with roses and staff offered to assist with our luggage. Our room was fab and looked over the roof of the indoor garden room. We did need...

This is a beautiful Victorian building which has been cleverly converted into a stunning hotel. While it has one of the trendiest bars in the city and oozes style it's staff are very friendly and welcoming and not at all pretentious. The rooms are lovely and the little touches like the complimentary tuck box and the bottle of water when...

This hotel is very grand and the staff were friendly. We stayed in a deluxe room which was spacious and offered a 'tuck box' with crisps, some sweets and chocolate etc. The bathroom was nice however the sink plug didn't work and so drained at an incredibly slow speed! Couldn't use it. The room was really cold when we arrived...

My husband booked this hotel as we were going to a show in town, I was dubious as one of my friends had previously visited in its previous life as The Palace and referred to it as a squat! This hotel definitely now warrants it's 4* status, excellent friendly staff await you, we were charged an extra £10 to be...

Stayed here on business - impressive hotel, beautifully restored - the grand reception definitely gives an impression! Check in was extremely slow - but that's where the criticism ends. Room was spacious, clean and well appointed - tuck box was a nice touch, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The attached restaurant and bar was absolutely excellent - great atmosphere...

The Principal is one of the grand old hotels. Deluxe rooms are large and well appointed. Free Tuck Box a nice touch. But a room in the wing next to the train line is very noisy all night long with rattling trains running through. Why did the reception staff give us this wing??! Joked. Roadworks meant it took our SatNav...

Good location especially when if leaving train at Oxford road station. Lovely old building. Shared twin room on this visit. Very contemporary decor. Bed extremely comfortable. We had a super size bathroom but effect lost as the fittings were very standard. It was also only heated by a quite large towel rail but remained quite chilly! Disappointingly the restaurant was...

Stayed in this hotel recently for a romantic break got superb service and would recommend this hotel for families or a couples break. The staff really go out of their way to help. I really appreciated the extra touches like the tuck box in the room and water and fresh milk in the fridge. We didn't venture out of the...

Gorgeous hotel, room was a good size, large bed & bathroom. Very clean. Fair bit of road noise due to it being a listed building with original windows. Bar and restaurant look amazing, great cocktails. Food at breakfast could be better, some of the hot food was cold.

Had a great 3 day stay at the Principal my first visit since its relaunch. Nothing was too much trouble and I loved the new touches like the tuck box with some decent coffee in the room and fresh milk in the fridge. It really is a delightful place to stay now and of course the stunning bar and restaurant....
