In terms of location , I believe it is a great spot to stay as you will be located pretty much central .

Piccadilly as well as Manchester Victoria station are all within walking distance no longer than 10 minutes

You have high street shops like : Primark , H&M etc etc

In terms of cleanliness , the hotel appears to be clean outside , the main corridors as well as inside the rooms .

I stayed in the room without a window view it was passable.

The bed is comfortable it is not as uncomfortable some reviews is making it out to be so where the pillows you get two pillows .

The room was slightly warm you cannot adjust the temperature the setting button appeared to be broken , but it is not as hot it’s okay .

The bathroom too was okay , some faulty parts here and there .

I do not think it’s accessible friendly though just bare that in mind you have to step into the bathtub which isn’t all that high , but like I said not accessible friendly.

So despite of the card the give you at the front desk saying internet room only you can only access the internet on the first floor there’s no internet access inside the room and signal is very bad you can barely use your own data

You can buy data for a few hours which I think is a waste of money they should ideally provide free internet

🌟 A Leprechaun’s Tale: The Britannia Hotel, Manchester City Centre 🌟

Top o’ the morning, folks! The Travelling Leprechauns found themselves in the heart of Manchester recently, staying at the Britannia Hotel. At £60 a night for an “executive room,” we expected to feel like kings, but it seems this pot o’ gold was missing a few coins! 🍀

🚪 Room & Decor:
The room? Ah, it had carpets that looked like they’d seen one too many ceilidhs! And the decor? A Victorian-meets-1980s vibe that’s more “blast from the past” than charming. Sure, it might tickle the fancy of nostalgia lovers, but we were left scratching our wee heads.

✨ The Bonus:
But let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater! The Britannia’s location is like finding gold at the end of a rainbow. Right in the city centre, you’re surrounded by Manchester’s lively nightlife and tasty eateries.

🍹 Manchester Nightlife Highlights:
Ah, the city buzzes with life after dark! Whether it’s the quirky bars of the Northern Quarter, the craic at Deansgate Locks, or the inclusive vibes of Canal Street, there’s a drink and a tune for everyone. And don’t forget the late-night grub in Chinatown—perfect for lining your stomach after a wee bit too much Guinness!

📊 Final Verdict:
We leprechauns gave the Britannia a 6.5/10. The room may not have been a treasure, but for budget travelers who want to be in the thick of Manchester’s action, it’s worth a thought.

What’s your take on the Britannia Hotel? Share your tales below! 🍀

would never stay again!! we had the worst experience, we stayed over for the concert happening on the weekend and we wished we stayed somewhere else. we moved rooms three times, when we booked the hotel we booked a twin room with a window, we got there and there was no twin rooms with a window so they put us in a twin room with no window. However, when we got there the door wouldn’t lock and as to 18 year olds we didn’t feel safe already, then they put us in a double bed room with no window which we didn’t want, and they said ‘if u stay in this room for tonight then tomorrow night we’ll upgrade you to a family suite’ so we were like ok, it was BOILING in the room but it had to do, then the next day we moved into a family suite that room wasn’t to bad but what got me was that one of my friends ended up wanting to stay with us for the last night so i told the reception and i had to pay an additional charge of £15 even tho the room was made for 3-4 people so i told him that but he said bc we originally booked a twin room so i had to pay!!!!

the only thing i liked about my stay was the location n the security guards at the front other than that i would never stay again

Couldn’t be more central location. Cheap and cheerful. Bed , phone chargers , working bathroom , all clean and tidy.
For what you pay you can’t complain at all - it’s a shame there is some surge pricing for matchdays and gig days , I wouldn’t pay more than £80 a night here.
But for the cheap price and location it’s perfect - staff are always friendly and helpful with speedy check in - just a shame the bouncers on the doors at night are quite aggressive sometimes if you’ve lost your key card.

This place has some pretty terrible reviews but my experience wasn't bad at all.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night while visiting Manchester for the Stevie Nicks gig at the Coop Live Arena.

Our room was basic but clean and spacious. The bed was also comfortable and fresh.

Hair/body wash, heater, fan and hairdryer were all provided. For the price, we felt it was decent value. The only downside was there wasn't a safe in the room which was quite worrying as I had my laptop with me. Thankfully, our stuff was left untouched.

There was a restaurant and bar across from reception, but we chose to go elsewhere for food/drinks so can't comment on that.

Can't complain about the location of this hotel because it was close to everywhere we wanted to go during our stay, with the Coop Live being only a 15ish minute taxi ride away, or around 20 minutes on the tram. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the area too so there is no shortage of places to eat or have a drink.

Appreciate we may have gotten lucky with our room here, given there are a lot of people who have had bad experiences but I think if you are in Manchester for a quick visit and want a cheap hotel that you won't be spending much time in anyway, I would recommend this one. Would try to avoid bringing large valuables (like laptops) if possible though, I would've if I knew there was no safe in the room.

Finally, shoutout to the reception staff who were very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay, especially Mark (I think that was his name), he's a great guy and was very approachable. Checkout was at 10am but our train home to Scotland wasn't until 7pm. The reception staff kindly stored our bags for us while we enjoyed our last full day in the city.

me and my friend were staying at this hotel as we were going to see a concert. we were trying to check in and it took around half an hour to get us checked in. we booked a twin room with a window, we ended up in a twin room without. the door of the room didn’t shut properly and didn’t lock. after complaining, we were told that there were no more twin rooms available and they could put us into a double room and could change our room for the second night. we accepted and went to the second room. this room was a double room, had no windows. there were, what i assume, coffee stains on the walls near the bed too. the bed was not comfy at all. our final room that we were given was a lot better, we were put into a family suite which did have windows.
the staff on reception were very rude to my friend and i.
for any stays over 3 nights, you have to pay £20+ for wifi in the room, with £7 for one night.
both lifts in the hotel are extremely dodgy too
on a more positive note, the security guards on the doors were so kind and were absolutely amazing.

We booked this hotel as I was central, and a decent price for 2 teenagers and two adults for one night stay on a Saturday night. We traveled from north Wales and arrived just before 3pm for check in, understandably as it says in the email we needed I.D with the payment card, gave them both I.D's for both us adults, they then went on to ask for the teenagers ID 🤔 I said in total confusion they don't have any as we don't tend to carry their passports if we are staying in the U.K. There was no backing down, company policy apparently! I've never heard or experienced this before , we found a picture of a bus pass for my daughter's friend but this only confused matters even more,as my daughter's friend's name was not the same surname as ours... I was told that I needed to contact her mum to ask her to send an email to the hotel to confirm the surname name... (Even though her mum doesn't share the same surname because it has to be the same surname) The mother had to lie in the email to confirm that she did have the same surname. So what does this actually prove ?

What a ridiculous and pointless palaver. If this is their policy they should make it a lot more clearer. We could have ended up with no accommodation with two young teenagers on a busy Saturday

I felt sorry for the staff they are obviously following the policy but it goes way too far, it's actually easier to get out of the country by plane than stay in the Sachas for one night.

First impressions was they couldn’t run a bath let alone a hotel. Waited til 6pm for a room to be “cleaned” the room was what could only be explained as a prison experience no window no light in the main room only a lamp! Filthy conditions, fair play for employing stevie wonder on hotel maintenance he has done questionable repairs. Nice welcome gift in the room though fag butts in the drawers and who has smoking in the rooms!

We watched a bit of tv on the tv the size of a crisp packet before using the shower where water came out nearly everywhere but the shower head kind of like a spa bath but vertical. The drinks vending machine was that old it only accepts shillings.

Do not bother taking an iron with you because you can go downstairs and iron your clothes in the hotels Bar in front of a crowd.

The breakfast is around £10 a person and it’s probably served half cold in a metal tray like gruel. I wouldn’t ever stay in this hotel or hotel chain ever again in my life and to add insult to injury they want you checked out and gone by 10am so they can have 8 hours to “clean your room.

Spoke to a lot of locals and every single one laughed when we told them where we we’re staying the night and we were also told to expect to find needles in there so god knows what it’s reputation is in manchester.

We stayed on a Saturday night. We wanted to be on the centre of Manchester and hotels are now silly money. This was the cheapest hotel we found (including travel lodge etc) and it was £120.

It looks like 40 years ago it would have been amazing but unfortunately it hasn’t been cared for in a very long time. It was clean, functional and run down.

When we arrived there was a queue at reception, only about 4/5 people. Despite there being 7 staff on it took around 30 minutes as only 1 or 2 worked and even they chatted in between. We had to show id (why?) and what would happen if you didn’t have id? We were told our room didn’t have a window and we could upgrade for £10 or pay £20 and get breakfast. We decided to pay £20.

Our room was clean and large, very basic though. We laughed hard at the window. It was an old fashioned wooden sil with paint peeling. The glass was a dirty yellow and brown and you could barely see out. The ‘view’ was a graffitied wall , bins and scaffolding. There’s also these arches under the windows (like a planting box) filled with fag ends. Needless to say the curtains stayed shut.
No major issues with the room, it smelt a little fusty but was quiet, clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was fine, typical buffet. It was very clean and well organised.

Checkout was easy, we left our suitcase in the hotel, when we returned it was at the back of a small room basically just a pile on. My husband had to climb over and move other people’s bags to find ours. No checking we took the right bag. So I’d be wary of leaving your case.

I’ve gone 3⭐️ based on the budget price (It was £20 less than travel lodge) Cleanliness and location. Other than that it’s more 2⭐️
