It's a real shame to see this once vibrant, enjoyable establishment diminished to this extent. We used to come here for dinners, drinks on Christmas Day lunchtime etc. on many occasions when we lived in Scale Hall Lane, and always enjoyed it. After we had sold the house I came to stay here for a night while we cleared the...

We stayed for two nights: two adults and two children. It was an adequate room, generously sized, but had an underlying damp smell which was a little off-putting. The shower was a dribble. The children found the room a bit smelly. It was a cheap and convenient stopover but I wouldn't recommend it for an anniversary weekend. The hall itself...

Absolutely dreadful stay here last week. Room was very tired, badly lit no natural light at all really, shower was non existent and the toilet took an age to refill. TV was on its last legs as was everything else. Luckily we were out and about with friends during the day and night so only had to put up with...

We stayed for a couple of nights as we were attending a family do at the Tavern. On the plus size, our room was generous in size (though another of the party had a room so small you could literally only fit a bed in). However, the place is run down, the furniture a rag bag of odd items that...

Was apprehensive about staying here after reading the reviews but had a comfy night's sleep. Entering the hall itself via the car park ( rear) entrance was off-putting as the area needed a good clean and tidy. The hall itself was fascinating but needs some tlc, we didn't eat here as we were attending a wedding close by so can't...

Arrived at the Tavern, didn't look much from outside but once inside I was pleasantly surprised. The room was large and on 2 levels, the lower level was wood flooring with large leather sofa seating area, the upper level was the sleeping, bathroom and storage are. We had a comfortable nights sleep. The staff were friendly. Would definitely stay there...

My room had a king size double bed, walk in shower room, and walk in wardrobe. The room is split level with a flat screen TV and fridge. My room had a three seater setee, ample cupboards and drawers and is very well lit. It is like a Motel and consequently you can park your car right outside your room. I...

Although the building would have been impressive in times gone by unfortunately this place is not impressive now. Stopped here for lunch but unfortunately was quite disappointed. Run down and very shabby inside and out and despite visiting in August, the place was cold and felt damp. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming though. We just ate sandwiches, which were...

Maybe its because I have just spent three weeks at the amazing Lancaster House Hotel (see my review) and was used to their high standards as to why this review is going to be so bad. Ok, picture this, we drove up about 5pm past the building site which has a Super market in the driveway From the road 'Scale...
