Where does one start. Several of us came for an old school reunion in the town expecting a nice Hotel. The location is perfect and a beautiful old building. My room was a route march up stairs and round and round passages. It was small and tatty, the handbasin had a huge crack across it, so dare not put the...

The Bell Hotel occupies what must be one of the best sites in Tewkesbury;- opposite to the Abbey, with views down the stunning High Street of this lovely town, The hotel itself is a magnificent building with lots of atmosphere, both inside and out and YET the welcome and the food leave much to be desired. I visited The Bell...

First photo bears NO RESEMBLANCE to the Bell Hotel, Tewkesbury, I visited last week! With wife and daughter for dinner on a Thursday evening, we were singularly unimpressed. Food was eminently forgettable, and service equally so. For a pub/ hotel occupying so prominent a position, right opposite the beautiful and historic Abbey, our admittedly limited experience leads me to think...

This is one of the Old English Inns chain run by Greene King. The website says: "Discover Old English hospitality at its best". The Bell Hotel isn't dreadful, but my bedroom was dowdy, the service was "just enough", and the food and drink not great. Specific gripes: the cold water in my washbasin ran hot (yes, actually hot) for several...

This is the second time I have called in for lunch this year and both times have eaten well at a good price. Each time my order was taken promptly on arrival at the bar and the service was courteous and quick. I have been made welcome and was asked if my meal was OK after finishing it. I will...

We stayed at the Bell for just the night. We found the staff to be really helpful and very informative. I loved the whole history of the place, some parts of the building dated back to the late 1600's. The room was a bit dated but clean and comfortable, we would definitely stay here again

The Bell Hotel is part of the Old English Inns chain and we were here paid for by compensation for a very bad experience at another hotel in the chain. It had to make amends. When we arrived at reception we had to wait for the receptionist to finish her personal phone call, and she was in no hurry to...

We were very disappointed we had expected a four star hotel not a hotel struggling to be two star. The first nights room was very small, second night we were moved to a much better room but both rooms were very tired and none had any of the extras we expect from a four star. Evening meals were fine but...
