The staff were really friendly and the room quirk and very clean. Can't fault anything and really reasonable as stayed a Sunday night for £39 a couple. Would recommend to anyone. The food was great - well cooked and free pizza for breakfast!

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, and found the staff to be friendly, and the room quirky and clean. We are currently trialing our new Pizza menu in the pub - as part of this we tested our new equipment and asked our customers to try the...

Once again, we were looking forward to our stay at this Spoons, and we weren't disappointed. An excellent Pale Ale called ( appropriately) Stunner, great fish and chips and ribs, and a big comfy bed. One word of warning, if you are booking through the Wetherspoons website, you need to ensure that you have confirmed your booking properly. If you...

Perfect little get away. Superb rooms and friendly staff. We feel like this hotel is our little secret. Its like the shrieking shack with mod cons and the fact that it combines lovely food at great prices is just another brucie bonus! Will continue to use this hotel, no questions asked. Give it a go, whats the worst that could...

Had a very nice w/end at The Royal Hop Pole with friends and we all agreed what a nice hotel and town. The hotel is a Wetherlodge (ie owned by JD Wetherspoons) which means a good selection of cask and craft ale as well as spirits and wines , all reasonably priced. Also a good pub food menu which includes...

Pleasant stay with helpful staff and clean rooms. Location perfect and the building itself is full of olde character. Close to several pubs and within easy access of shops and restaurants. Would recommend staying here.

Dear Guest, Thank you for you review. It is good to hear that you found our staff helpful and the rooms to be clean during your stay with us. Our building certainly has a lot of olde worlde charm. We are located in the centre of Tewkesbury between the Abbey and the high street, so ideal for exploring the town....

It's a Wetherspoons so expect it to be like one. The Hop Pole has a small number of rooms up stairs that are great value for money. They are good people that run this pub and everyone working there is polite. It's the best in Tewkesbury to have an early breakfast and no matter how early you go there'll always...

Another great stay had at this lovely hotel. As always clean, comfortable and quiet. Third stay here now and will certainly be back. Stopped at about 7 Wetherspoons Hotels, never a bad experience. I'd like to give special mention to the young lad on reception day time 31/04 and following morning 01/04. Very helpful, friendly and chatty, an asset to...

Well I've thought Wetherspoon pubs are excellent value, but the hotel at Tewkesbury is ........can't think of one word to describe it! The bar area is popular; I believe the beer is good, and the menu reasonable both in choice and price. The room was as expected. Breakfast tasty and filling.. After breakfast I asked about the history of the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This well-known landmark is an amalgamation of historic buildings dating from the 15th and 18th centuries, known as a number of names, including The Crown during King Henry VIII's reign. However, eventually it was named The Royal Hop Pole when Queen Mary stayed in 1937 and gave it the official 'Royal.' Charles Dickens even mentions The Royal Hop Pole in his first novel, The Pickwick Papers. Other interesting information and pictures are located all over the hotel, including information on how the Medieval Banqueting Hall was discovered when the hotel was recently refurbished. The Royal Hop Pole has its own beautiful garden which leads to the banks of The River; there you can see picturesque views of the surrounding countryside and the Malverns. ... more   less
