Make sure you get the right room and don’t easily mistake the door number as you might be as unlucky as me to find after being snowed in at work and forced to stay at a local hotel at 2am, your key in fact may open someone else’s room who may run at run at you waving their fists in your face shouting (which is understandable to be fair, the man did probably think I was breaking into his room!) (side note: my apologies to the guests I probably woke with my murderous scream).
Needless to say I spent the rest of the night awake, with a chair shoved under the door handle and door chained.
If that wasn’t bad enough my room was very dated, the radiators made a horrific noise, it was freezing (I wrapped myself in both my duvet and the one from the spare bed in my twin room) and most disgusting was probably the fact that someone else bath products where left in the shower.
When explaining the nights key incident to reception she told me it was ‘a problem they had’ and she would inform mantinence.
I quite frankly I’d rather walk the 20 miles through the snow next time!

Precis, 5 Nov 2018:
Well located for Maistone, M20 J4, Eurotunnel. Very much a world of two halves, one lurching toward 4 star the other clinging to 2+. At £50 with English breakfast plus cereals and juices, definitely one for short list, I will go back.

Arriving for a family reunion the impressive grounds and facade were belying a tired bar entrance. We 20 initially congregated in a large previously empty lounge area adjacent to bar just before 13.00, furnished with fabric chairs complimented by low backed black leather settees. About 13.30 we filed through bar to restaurant on the other side. £17 Sunday carvery of beef, gammon and chicken with veggie option. Adequate meat served by chef then self serve veg selection including crispy roast pots, cauliflower cheese, 'pigs' with a stuffing ball, carrot, pea, roast parsnip, shredded cabbage and one gravy.
Low lighting was not improved by table candle engulfed by red glass bowl, supplied after our 90+ year old members had a moan. Puds were creme caramel, apple tart or bread and butter pud (very tasty with cream), finally a coffee.
Having driven 120 miles I had booked a room. Hotel reception could be accessed from a separate entrance, it was light modern, functional. Stair carpet to rooms was tired, there was another floor for 200's which I did not explore. Rooms available from 14.00, I asked for key initially at 12.30 but early check in would have cost £10 extra.

With no lift At Least 20 steps to my room 109, a pleasant single with modern light oak coloured furniture, low intensity lighting, smart modern Victorian style bath furniture plus shower. Soft but comfortable bed, it is a long time since I slept soundly for over 7 hours. No UHT milk or cream for tea/coffee in room, no fridge but there was a trouser press, ironing board and iron. £52 booked direct yesterday, with full English breakfast served in light airy conservatory area of main restaurant. Another single traveller had booked via Internet about 21.00 for that night at £49.

On arrival from London turn left immediately after traffic lights. When leaving the grounds by car the hotel has its own traffic lights to access the A20 plus local road opposite.

Room was clean, Had shampoo & body wash & soap in the bathroom. Staff were very helpful & friendly, ample car parking. Does require more lighting at the entrance. Can easily go past it in the dark. Breakfast arrived very quick.

Lovely setting even though it is on a main road. Clean interior and though not highly staffed, they were friendly and polite. We could only eat after 2 pm as there was no chef till then but the food was plentiful and well presented. I had the soup which was rather salty but very tasty and the salmon which was only warm but my friend had the steak which he said was very well cooked and hot.
I can't comment on the rooms as we were only there for lunch.

The facilities seemed well looked after.

Food was very nice
Tables were really clean
Staff were attentive
Very good shower pressure

Hall carpet died in 1895
Banging doors all evening as they seem to slam shut if not held
The hotel is BOILING hot, to the point I kept going downstairs and outside to try escape it. (middle of October)

I would happily pay £50-60pn but I think £89 is over priced although a revamp could see it well worth the money

Keep up the good work staff
Thank Sebastian V
