Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very good budget accommodation, good value for money, hot shower and a warm bed, a little noisey but it’s a pub after all, had a band playing below but didn’t wake our 3 year old, the room was well prepared and presented, plenty of places to see around the area, good central spot.

Awesome bakery down the road.

The only thing is the bin could be a little bigger.

We’ll definitely be back for a stop over.

We stay here one night. The room was clean, quiet and was equiped with a microwave, TV,fridge, heater comfortable bed with electric blanket along with a couple of chairs and a table. At 55 per night it was a good value Pub room. Note the Pub does not do meals but there are food stores near.

I had read a few reviews that this place was a great budget place to stay near Wynyard. They stuffed up our online booking through quick beds and only booked us one room despite me booking three rooms, and because they were full one of our party of three had to go and stay elsewhere. The rooms were clean enough for the price, though the hot water took a long time to get running in the morning.
My big problem was the noise. The sounds form the hotel downstairs seem to amplify as they come upstairs and there was absolutely no chance of hip getting any sleep until the last punter had left and even then I was woken by every car that went past. We left at 6am tired and crabby from a lack of sleep, and on that, fundamentally, is why I wouldn't stay here again.

I stayed in room 6
Before i could even check into my hotel room, It was discussed and agreed upon that someone would be waiting at the hotel for my late check in.
I arrived at 9;15pm, pub was completely locked up and shut.... I rang the 2 numbers on the door went strait to voicemail, my employer rang the number he was given... Went straight to voice mail, the security guard who saw me waiting in the rain freezing cold, called the number he had and still went to voicemail, which left me no other option but to book in somewhere else after i've already organised and paid for that room.
Outside lobby area carpet smelt like piss, My room was unclean (cockroaches in bowls and cups that were left for me to 'use', windows have no fly screen... It lets big blowflies in, at night the windows let mozzies in. If you shut the windows you end up really sick like me, and having to go to the chemist to get something to clear out my sinuses from the mould and mouldy smell. Bathroom vanity taps did not stop leaking, dripped all night and day. Timber around vanity was rotted at bottom and wood was stripping, shower head and stem was on the wrong way around so i couldn't adjust it, bed was very uncomfortable and stunk, ii had to spray the entire room with glen 20 and even stripped the bed and flipped the mattress which didn't help at all)
after approaching staff and management from the hotel with my concerns, i was told that "the rooms are cheap so you have to come down to front desk and tell staff when you want linen changed and room cleaned (this was after 6 days)
After approaching manager on 7th day she told me, that they only change the sheets every 7 days, not to mention I only had 1 pillow and it smelt like every head on Australia had rubbed on it.

I highly advise against staying in particularly room 6, if you have a tent you're better to stay in there.

Don’t be put off by the first impression of this pub, yes, it does look a bit out dated as you walk up the stairs ,but this gives it a bit of charm in my opinion. The rooms are very clean, modern and well equipped for the price.I have paid twice the cost of the room I had in other hotels and have not been half as good.Bed was comfy and warm, bathroom was modern and clean. There was no meals but plenty of options within walking distance.I will definitely stay there again on my next work trip to Burnie. All in all, great value for money

travelling with friends who had stayed before so we booked in. After looking at the web site and expecting shabby rooms the $89 price was acceptable for one night. When we checked in we were pleasantly surprised to see that all rooms had been refurbished.

Our room was a bit noisy facing the street and the floor boards creaked, but the communal lounge was really nice to sit in after a big day to chill before going out for dinner.

We booked through website. Website was not up todate (out by a couple years). Whilst unpacking car, people were looking in our car. Room smelt damp and horrible. It was chilly so I checked out heater, hadn't been test and tagged wince 2011. We didn't feel safe or comfortable, so re-packed car and left. Never again!!!!

We are very sorry that your experience was unpleasant. We will certainly have all your comments looked into and addressed. The Somerset is definitely budget accommodation, but that in no way means in should not be clean and properly maintained. We thank you for your feedback

We booked through a web site which said restaurant down stairs. No restaurant!! The room was upstairs and every second floor board creaked so every time someone walked past our room we woke up. The wall paper was falling off the walls in our room. Our bathroom had cobwebs everywhere. The room smelt damp. If we hadn't of pre paid online we would have gone elsewhere.
Never again. !!!

We were very surprised to find in this pretty ordinary looking country pub really excellent completely renovated accommodation upstairs. Don't be put off by the downstairs area. Completely refurbished rooms with large beautifully appointed ensuite bathrooms, and new furnishings with very comfortable beds. No meals available but a range of options nearby. This accommodation was the equal of 4 star venues we stayed in elsewhere in Tasmania.
