Old fashoined pub with refurbished rooms on first story, no lift , 19 steps to first floor.
I was tad worried about car park near entrance as it is virtually on the footpath with no barriers but it was perfectly safe.
The helpful bloke who booked me in deserves kudos, I asked him at one stage did he live there? as he seemed to be there constantly.
I was very irritated as TV didnt work, even after the aforesaid helpful bloke came up to room it still didnt get any ABC channels.
It didnt seem that important when I mentioned it to staff and asked that management be made aware.
Now overall service wasnt that flash, At times no one behind bar or in restaurant area, I saw quite a few patrons milling around both areas waiting for service, menus behind bar so I saw patrons waiting to get a menu frequently in the 3 nights I stayed and ate there.
Drinks list on bar, Wrong prices on it, I pointed that out and noticed prices were updated next night.
Odd, wine I was drinking was on old menu, I was told they only had 2 different SSBs but drinks list on website stated a couple of other ones as being available ( They werent) and the wine I was drinking was listed as unavailable????
All minor anomalies which will not stop me staying there again, which I will do.

We stayed 2 nights. Renovated rooms in old style hotel. Our room was very small, not much space around the bed. Bathroom was well renovated. Air-conditioner unit was very noisy & hindered our sleep. Rooms are upstairs with steep access stairs (carrying bags) & no lift. Roadside car parks didn’t look secure & had us worried but our car was untouched. Our evening meals were not enjoyable. No significant breakfast was available. Good location with walking distance to railway station and some local shops. Staff were friendly and the premises was clean & tidy.

I read previous reviews prior to booking and staying, and once here I could see first hand and understand some of the complaints. Being greeted with a dozen or so buckets on the stairwell to the rooms catching water from holes in the roof probably wasn't the first impression I was looking for either. Having said this however, my room was clean and airy and the shared bathrooms I found to be mostly clean and acceptable. I utilised the shared kitchen and had a meal in the bistro all of which I found to be pleasant. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. My only issue worth mentioning is that I stupidly locked myself out of my room during the night when going to the toilet. I searched everywhere for a security number or licensee number that I could phone for assistance but got nothing. It was a very long night trying to sleep in the kitchen until a staff member arrived in the morning. Would I stay again? Yes. Would I recommend to others? Only if they are not expecting the Shangri La!

Ignore the previous reviews, the Pymble Hotel has undergone a huge makeover in recent months and the results are very promising.
Rooms have been totally renovated with a bright, fresh look, modern bathrooms nice beds and decent WiFi.
The rooms are small, but there's still room to move around and hang up your clothes.
Given the location jammed between the highway and the railway and on top of the pub, we'd expected a lot more noise. There was some, mostly from the bar, but not enough to stop us sleeping.
There's free parking right outside the door, and a bar and restaurant in the building if you need.
Given the absolute paucity of accommodation in this area, this is a badly needed option, and at this price, including WiFi and breakfast, it's a very good deal right now.

The most we liked was the design overall. Great and comfy bed, we sleeped well these nights. You have a lot of parking spaces here and a train station nearby, wherefrom you can reach the city center of Sydney. Historical reception and hall interior. We got two complementary drinks from the bar as we checked-in. Full height mirror.

Disliked · The room was a bit small, not enough space for luggage or clothes. There was a strange smell of sewage in the room, but not all the time, perhaps after a rainy day.

The nightcap pymble hotel is a hidden treasure. When you walk through the old wooden doors, you are taken back in time to an art deco era. Great food, rooms refurbished and very comfortable and service pretty good too. David the manager is a legend and went above and beyond when my booking was mucked up. Has a bws bottle shop attached, doesn’t do breakfast but you can get a breaky pack. A top place to stay

The accommodation is excellent value for money. We only needed the one short night stay and it was perfect. Rooms very clean and pleasant. Staff, including the bar staff, very helpful and friendly. All things considered I can’t fault it.

This was easily the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in. It was in early March 2011, and the floor looked as if it hadn't yet been vacuumed this year. One bedside table still had the previous occupant's phone charger and drink glass stain on it, and the other was so dusty I could have written my name on it with my finger. The bathroom (a relic from WWI by the look of it) was unspeakably dirty – the shower was over the bathtub, which had gross stains in it. The toilet paper roll had about 10 squares of paper left on it.
My mother had booked me in for 3 nights, and was tricked into paying upfront. After the first night, I couldn't bring myself to stay there (let alone use the bathroom), and slept on my mother's floor, instead. At 52, this is not something I would normally do.
When I came back to pick up my suitcase on the morning of the third day, I saw that no attempt had been made to clean the room in the meantime. Very shoddy indeed.
For $130 a night, I don't expect luxury (and this was certainly very shabby), but I DO expect cleanliness.
Don't stay here!

So dirty.
I found dead insects on the floor.
Do not look under the bed or you will not sleep.
How have a shower in a disgusting bathroom ?
I could not imagine I could see that in a developped country
Avoid it !

I stayed in the Pymble "Hotel" for one week.
I was so shocked by the cleanliness of the rooms, hallways, bathrooms, and kitchen,
that half way through my stay I contacted the Front of House Manager, no action was taken.
When I asked repeatedly for my room to be vacuumed the hotel failed to do so,
and when I asked the cleaner she informed my the rooms were serviced once a week,
or upon check out. For $105 per night, this is absoluted unacceptable!
I travel extensively for work and this is one of the filthiest places I have ever seen.
Dead cockroaches on the kitchen floor, black window sills, you get the idea.

Also,
One side of the hotel has a motorway, the other train tracks, and no double glazing,
which makes it impossible to sleep.
