Hello again Ciara. In all of our previous reviews our beds have never been described as hard. All or beds are of the same standard and quality. Perhaps all the hiking done by you over the 2 days was the cause for the sore back....More

There is a minibar fridge in the lounge area where you can take drinks and snacks , write your name down and pay after. Nice little touch.

I think you would be o.k. a small step up at the front door. I am pretty sure they have a room on the first floor--but be sure to ask Dave. The sitting room and the breakfast room are on the first floor.
