My son and I stayed with Peter at Heron's rest had very comfortable rooms with views of the water- and lovely baths. The breakfast was scrumptious and opulent!! Peter was charming! We could walk to the marina and to dinner and the village. Charming location.

The Heron's Rest is a beautiful B&B, perfectly located, overlooking the Galway Bay, just minutes walk from the city centre and the Claddagh area. Sorcha and Peter are very friendly and willing to help.

-Please note that breakfast is NOT as described on the website. It is just continental. There is no selection of hot dishes, as there is no chef this time of the year (to our understanding, there is a chef only at summertime), so the description is misleading. -No soundproof -Squeaking floor -Small bed -We asked if we could leave our... Fab location and stunning view from room, single bed tucked in snuggly like a big window seat. Great continental breakfast and I was treated to a delicious muffin, still hot from the oven to bring with me as I left for work! Only minor downside was noise of people walking in room overhead, but once they settled in for the... More

Love this. It's a truly delightful B&B in a wonderfully convenient location, and the sort of place that gives Ireland a good name for hospitality. The owners have thought of everything, and Peter is a charming host too. Bravo.

I just visited Galway for the first time, had a good experience at the B&B which I booked, but while walking through town came across the Heron's Rest. I had seen the Herons Rest on various sites, but chose not to stay there because it seemed overpriced based on the very poor photos of the rooms (particularly the building exterior).... More

So I was alone on this trip and I stumbled around looking for a place to stay on a last minute pleasure trip. Another hotel that had no vacancies recommended this B & B. I got lucky and visited, rooms were basic, but clean and all overlook the water or bay. Tea anytime is a good time and the breakfast... More

We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Herons Reset Boutique Bed and Breakfast. Location is fantastic with a beautiful view, right on the water, and just steps from restaurants and shopping. The room was well appointed, clean, and bright. There were many selections for the full breakfast, with delicious food served with graciousness. Best of all, everyone working there is... More

This was a very nice B&B. We stayed in the room on the top floor, which had large window on the roof that opened to a beautiful view. Location is very close to Quay street and we were able to walk to all of our venues. Breakfast was delicious, but the only complaint would be that we wish they served... More

In Galway City centre The Herons Rest lies nestled on the banks of the river Corrib over looking the traditional Claddagh harbour. This idyllic waterside location is only 3 mins from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town and the 'craic' of Galway's Latin Quarter. Each cosy chic bedroom has stunning views overlooking the Claddagh Harbour and the famous Galway Bay. Outside the water is teaming with wildlife such as, otters, herons and the largest colony of mute swans in Western Europe. We call it 'keeping it country in the city'. Ethos Our philosophy at The Herons Rest is to ensure our guests get the most out of Galway and its locale. We enjoy providing a home from home experience and strive to share the best of the west with you. Our gourmet breakfasts alone, provisioned from local and organic produce have made us a destination not to miss. In each cosy chic bedroom lots of thoughtful touches enhance your comfort and panoramic views of the bay give a feeling of idyllic hideaway whilst still located in the city centre. We love to share up-to the minute advice with you on the best restaurant recommendations and help you with your reservations. Galway is the perfect base for day tripping and we offer personalised route planning to ensure you can avoid the tourist traps and find unspoilt secret spots. Why not let us pack a gourmet picnic for you? Or book afternoon tea on arrival to start your stay in a relaxing style. Breakfast is a convivial, cooked to order feast, prepared in front of you by your host. It is served at our communal breakfast table between 8- 11am and may also be received in your room.
