Went there with family for dinner, it could do with some decorating as it is old and dirty looking, but the food was good and the staff was very friendly, a nice place to go for dinner after a visit to the botanic gardens.

Fawlty Towers comes to mind.. Got food which was just about edible.. We ate outside in the "beer garden" as the inside of the bar was filthy & in dire need of some tlc. The staff are rude & unhelpful.. Stood at the bar for 5 minutes waiting to order a drink while they walked past & ignored me. When... More

Used an online voucher for a carvery meal – and by the looks of it the majority of the people eating here were doing the same. Nothing wrong with the food, it’s well cooked, and the portions very good but that’s about all. The entrance doors all scuffed and damaged, brasses absolutely filthy with dirt. The windows obviously haven’t been... More

"Recently refurbished"-when??????? I visited today with my kids. The staff were friendly and welcoming but my God the state of the place both inside and out. Our table had hair on it- about 6 strands. The food was poor- I'm not fussy but I really didn't like the Turkey. The kids had chicken "goujons" which were processed chicken nuggets. Two... More

My advice....Avoid this pub. There are far better venues (for food & drinks) within 5-minute walking distance, where the staff are friendly and polite and make you feel welcome - not like an inconvenience. I subsequently discovered from other local people, that this is the normal poor service level from this venue & why few locals visit it. My experience......... More

Went for Sunday carvery the worst iv ever had the stuffing tasted like a bottle of vinigar was mixed into it. The place is run down and over priced the staff are disinterested, save yourself the trouble and walk the few steps over to the tolka house it's cheaper and far superior in every aspect.

I visited the restaurant of this hotel whist staying at a nearby holiday home, and can honestly say it was the best meal we had all week. The staff were exceptionally friendly and really went the extra mile for their customers. The potato skins with chicken and bacon were the best I've ever tasted, and the staff paid a great... More
