I spent 3 nights in the Cape Clear Island Holiday hostel with a diving club and we can't wait to go back. The hostel is amazingly located, less than 200m from the pier on the south harbour. Anne, the owner, could not possibly have been more accommodating. She went above and beyond to make our stay run smoothly! The hostel...

Bearing in mind just how cut off this place is and that the hostel can be overcome with Atlantic waves in the winter, this is a wonderful place to stay. It is kept so well with every facility and comfort. Such value too and just a short walk from the ferry (or take a unique taxi journey!)

Just back from an amazing time on Cape Clear, went with a friend for a day trip and we loved it so much that we decided to "miss" the boat back and stay for the night. Anne, who runs the hostel, had just come back from the main land but instantly made us feel welcome, making up beds for us...

Went with a group of teenagers as part of a GAA outing, Anne in the hostel could not have been more helpful, as were the restaurant on the pier and the legendary chip van lady, also on the pier. We were given the use of a pitch to train, went swimming off the pier, walked around the island. Weather was...

Had an amazing time in this hostel at the weekend with family and kids. Our host Anne met us at the ferry to collect our bags which was extremely helpful as the hostel is about a 10 minute walk. As it was my first time staying in a hostel I wasn't sure what to expect but Anne was incredibly helpful...

I took the family out for an overnight stay and we had a great time. The kids loved the table tennis and the experience of staying in such a great location. We were able to view seals in the bay directly outside our bedroom window. Anne was able to organise a family room at short notice and was able to...

Below-standard bathroom & shower facilities. I had a very similar experience to others who have poorly rated this hostel. Staff were unprofessional and not trustworthy. Of note, following a complaint made by a 50+yr old angry woman who did not like the fact that phones were used to try to get up to our bunk beds (no ladders) one staff...

My girlfriend and I stayed here a while back. It's not five star by any means, but really, therein lies its charm. This wee hostel does exactly what it says on the tin: it's low-budget accommodation most suited to young couples or friend groups. Go here with good company and you'll be sure to enjoy yourself. The island is beautiful and worth...

Recently stayed in Cape Clear Island Hostel and was unbelievably displeased with my experience there. This was my first time to Cape Clear and although the island itself is beautiful with amazing views, great restaurant and pub (Cotters) with friendly people my experience in Cape Clear Island Hostel has not enticed me to return for a second visit. The hostel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cape Clear Island Holiday Hostel is stunningly situated in the South Harbour of Cape Clear Island within a few steps of the pebble beach. The view from all of the rooms is breathtaking; awaken in the morning, after a great night’s sleep, to the sound of the lapping waves with the freshest of air to breathe and, if you are lucky, your stay might coincide with the annual arrival of Basking Sharks to the waters directly outside the bedroom windows. ... more   less
