Superb cuisine, fine dining with an excellent wine list. It's expensive but worth it if you would like an extravagant lunch or dinner. Staff are brilliant, understated and understanding which helped when we visited! Bravo!!! 👍

This was a belated birthday visit for an overnight stay, with dinner in the restaurant. All the bedrooms are the same, with the only difference being the colour scheme. The even-numbered rooms are quieter, as the odd-numbered rooms (where we were) overlook the pretty garden and main road adjacent to the inn. The reception area, bedrooms, breakfast room and lounge...

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary. We dined in the lovely restaurant. Our first course was very good, unfortunately the main course was not. The vegetables were so under cooked we couldn't pick them up using a fork, the chips were so dried up we were sure they were reheats! My steak was edible but my...

Our second visit in three months confirmed our feelings from the first - champany inn's restaurant is not as good as it used to be. A few things let them down. On both occasions there was no greeting or welcome when we arrived - nobody took our coats, ascertained what we wanted to drink or showed us to a table...

My husband reserved the restaurant for us weeks in advance for our first valentines since becoming husband and wife. We knew it would be top of the range so we got dressed for the occasion, on arrival the parking is horrendous very tight spaces when busy. Walked in and the lady waitress with short blonde hair had a quick glance...

We had three lovely nights in Champany Inn. The room was just fabulous and so cosy (dark red painted and lovely furniture). The staff was very friendly and the breakfast just amazing! Super delicious yoghurt and really good cooked food! The surrounding fields are fantastic for a walk. There is no bus station near Champany Inn but the driver stops...

Went to the chop and ale house for a taste of the steaks and were not disappointed, only a five minute wait in the cosy bar cum waiting room. All staff were very efficient and friendly, even the chef who can be viewed cooking the meat was a cheery chap. Had the sausages and sirloin steak all excellent quality with...

We stayed here last night and dined in the Chop & Ale House. Friendly, helpful staff; comfy bed; excellent food; delicious breakfast - it was a real treat! There is plenty of parking, a great wine shop, but it's the steak that makes it for us! Superb!

Sadly I now believe the answer to that question is yes. We visit here not often but I'd say on average 3 times a year to Chop & Ale. It's been on a slow decline for a while now re food quality, I'm assuming staffing changes in kitchen as ribeye & t-bone along with the usually superb chips and coleslaw...
