The main house has kept the features of a planter's bungalow: wooden floor boards, high ceilings and a wide veranda. The garden is beautiful, as is the view. There are walks, and places of interest in the area. Kandy (with the Temple of the Tooth relic, and the Peradeniya Gardens) is one hour's drive away. A group of us came for lunch which was so delicious - eight curries and two types of rice. After a seven kms walk, we did it justice! There is also a swimming pool. The host and hostess are generous and the staff attentive and helpful. This is a place to come to unwind and relax. I was shown a large bedroom in the main house which was lovely but as I was not staying, I am not able to comment on sleep quality or wifi.

Stayed at Strathisla Guest House and was very well looked after by JKo and his team. It is an amazing backdrop in this area and just beautiful to look out across the mountainous area. Great food and amenities, set in a period ex tea plantation owners house. Nice big pool too go the kids!

Peaceful place and stylish environment. The crew is absolutely customer centric, the old house has character and the food one of the best we had in Sri Lanka. They organised for us a beautiful trekking day. Great tea plantations, cloud forest, herb and spice gardens, lovely local people. Can recommend this place for all sustainable traveller's.

We spent one amazing week at Strathisla. Everyone was so helpful and kind, including the manager, the staff,Prylia and her amazingly delicious food.. You feel like you are in paradise. The pool is well maintained, and the water temperature is always perfect. You can do morning walks around the tea plantation, watching the birds, squirrels running around. The breakfast is delicious,so as lunch and dinner. They help you organizing tours, and there are plenty of things to do if you feel like spending time away from this paradise.. Thank you so much for the amazing hospitality !!

We spent three days at Strathisla, including our wedding anniversary. In many ways - attentive and genuinely friendly staff, fabulous dinners, well maintained and sensuous gardens, magical views - it was the perfect place to be. However we were given one of the new rooms - not one of the atmospheric and graceful original ones (all upstairs). We were not shown any pictures of our actual room or informed in advance of the much lower standard (gloomy, frosted glass windows - so no view), IKEA fixtures, artificial plant, cheap plastic shower tap, cramped sleeping area. Yet we were charged the standard $140 per night (with breakfast).

Hi Michael Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay with us. Everything you have written about your stay has been noted and will be acted upon to improve the comforts of any future guests. . As mentioned in a previous response, the Villa is mainly used for people with small children as it has the additional 2 small bedrooms, however it was my mistake completely that you were given the Villa and not a room in the main bungalow and for that I am profusely sorry. Wishing you well on the remaining part of your travels. Best regards Peter
