What a wonderful hotel. An old fashioned building in excellent condition. A marvellous central staircase ascending from a lounge area which incorporates a reception just inside the main door. Our double room on the second floor was very comfortable. The meals in the restaurant were verging on fine dining. Well presented and very very tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive....

A beautiful hotel however smell of boiled cabbage permeated corridors in evening and there was very little soundproofing between rooms. The room was comfortable and freshly decorated however what lets this hotel dine is the quality of their staff customer service. Waitresses are sullen and Want to snatch your plate away if you put a fork down for a second....

Really good deal for this hotel. Normally I don't like being pestered during dinner but I can safely say I was ignored until I left and was chased by manager and waitress who accused me of not paying. Beyond embarrassing. ApparentlyI should have been given a voucher on check in. I wasn't. A gentleman who witnessed my embarrassment approached me...

We stayed two nights as part of our Highland tour. Great location, within easy walking distance to all attractions and busy places in Inverness. Extremely limited parking (only 9 spaces for the hotel) however a big private parking that charges only £7/day is 5 minutes walk from hotel. Lobby looks nice. We were given one of the just two ground...

Contacted the hotel directly and got a 'Deal of Deals' which was fantastic!!!!!! We recommend everyone contacts the hotel this way. The staff were great, room was spotless and lovely with white cotton linen bedding and towels. Room was cleaned daily and coffee, tea etc replenished. We've been before and we'll definitely be going back. Thanks for our lovely stay...

Just spent 3 nights in this hotel which is located next to the train station and within a couple of minutes walk from the Eastgate Centre and also the bus station. We had a large room at the front of the hotel. Rooms are quite old fashioned but not shabby and were spotlessly clean. We had a deal which gave...

I just had one night in Inverness and was catching the train very early the next morning. The Royal Highland Hotel was perfect since it literally connects to the train station! The hotel itself is a little dated and could use a little standard upkeep; however, to be honest, I felt like this added to it's charm. The front desk...

Stayed on a Sunday Night - Hotel appeared busy, but not 'heaving'. Check-in was easy, but, on each occasion we approached Reception, although 2 members of staff was present, only one appeared to actually be interacting with the guests. Stayed in one of the 'Royal' rooms - very spacious - 2 Queen-sized beds. good amenities i.e. Tea & Coffee facilities,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Royal Highland Hotel is the oldest hotel in the centre of the Highland capital, Inverness. In 2000, the property was carefully restored, retaining its unique character associated with the bygone age. As soon as you enter the hotel you will appreciate this. In the foyer the grand staircase, the inspiration for the Titanic's staircase, leads to the 84 spacious refurbished bedrooms - all with very high ceilings. The decor is rich with traditional furniture and deep colours. The rooms all have soft furnishings and antique style furniture. The excellent bathrooms are generally medium to large in size. For over 151 years, the hotel has been looking after travellers from all over the world. Perhaps its popularity stems from the fact the hotel is a grand place to stay. Large bedrooms, large lounge areas, quiet meeting rooms, good food, prime location and friendly staff all play their part. All local amenities close to hand, but within a 5 minute drive you are out into the dramatic Highlands. Lochness is only 7 miles from the hotel. ... more   less
