Really pleasant brasserie restaurant for both lunch and evening dinner. The service and food are of a high standard and our host was extremely friendly and welcoming with a tipple of Old Putenay malt at the end !!

I quite enjoyed this as our last stop driving the NC500! Great selection of surprisingly great old Pulteney whisky and the food was very good! The rooms were quite accommodating and the owner is a friendly knowledgeable whisky drinker as well! Highly recommend this over any other accommodation I have stayed at in Wick!

We only popped in for coffee with friends, whilst passing through, and ended up receiving a history lesson of the teddies, the building, and the neighbouring area from the very knowledgeable and friendly proprietor. It was very refreshing to be made to feel so welcome, and to be offered so much of the proprietors time for the price of a...

Dear Rory T It's really lovely of you to review us for such a short visit, thank you. Murray loves the area and equally loves telling visitors about the history, I think if you cut him in two he'd have 'Mackays Hotel' on one half and 'Wick' on the other :-). Do come back for another visit! Ellie Lamont

We had a family celebration (15 people) for our Ruby Wedding on 22nd October. We had a lovely meal in the dining room. There was a very good Menu to suit everybody - complements to the Chef(s). All the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. We took up the offer of accommodation as we had our wedding reception in the...

We used the hotel as a meeting point then returned for a buffet, the service was second to none and the food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, clean and welcoming, I would have no concerns going back and my business clients thoroughly enjoyed the experience. For those looking for a green hotel this one uses a wood burning biomass...

Touring on the N500 - and ended up staying at Mackays Hotel for two nights as there was lots to see in and around Wick. Lovely room overlooking the river. Meal both nights very good but fairly small! The salmon three ways was tiny! Staff were all very friendly and the breakfast excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Large hotel from a period when Wick was a major herring port. The Hotel is clean and tidy, and the reception and Manager very helpful. Breakfast was cooked to order, fine, but not memorable. The room was a good size but a little dated. Felt expensive for what it offered. Overall fine for a stop over possibly not for an...

Dear jrep555 Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write a review following your recent stay with us, although I was disappointed to read your comments about dated rooms as all our bedrooms have been refurbished in the last 2 years. That said, there are a few rooms in which the bathrooms still have to be done however...
