I booked this thinking it was a bed and breakfast for me and my wife as I had work the next day on the Orkney Islands, after a seven and half hour drive we were eager to have a shower and changed to get something to eat, when we got there had to knock on side door as reception was...

Good value for a private room wiht breakfast included. Fully equip kitchen, with decent sized dinning room for size of hostel. Close to everything in town. Great stay until alarm started ringing at 6:50 am and when we called reception they didn't do anything about it except put a towel over it until we checked out at 10. Ruined what...

I opted for the £42 room so I could have a little privacy and not have to share with other people. The bed was comfy, the pillows were comfier! The en-suite bathroom was very nice, clean and the shower was actually hot! There was communal huge kitchen area with a variety of cereal with milk etc in the fridge. Cooker...

Stayed here with 4 friends on the first night of our charity JOGLE cycle ride. We weren't expecting luxury and therefore were not disappointed. The rooms are basic and whilst not spotless, were not too bad and met our needs. The kitchen/dining room area was clean and tidy with a good selection of basic breakfast items available ( ie Cereals,...

This was my second time in a hostel, and as I am no expert readers will use their discretion when reading this review. Sandra's is situated in the centre of Thurso, close to all the local emenities. The hostel is made up of several floors, my friends and I were in a 4 bed dorm on the top floor with...

I stayed here with my boyfriend for one night last week when I visited John O'Groats, We stayed in a private double which was very clean, had a great bathroom with a good shower and even a TV on the wall by the bed. Man who welcomed us was very friendly and we were able to borrow towels etc. Kitchen...

As other people have said, this hostel is dirty. Someone has said that deep cleaning is needed, but tbh, even just a surface clean would help it a lot! My bed sheets had stains on them, the bathroom had hairs on the walls and mould on the tiles. The kitchen was filthy. Other people had commented on the manky cereal...

I have stayed in many hostels before and was expecting basic but clean. That was not my experience of Sandra's. On arrival I went to reception, no one there. Eventually someone showed me to my shared room. The room was basic, on the plus side, the bed linen was clean and the room was warm. However the room light did...

Our ferry was canceled so we had to spend one last minute night in Thurso. We were happy to find a cheap room, booked the double with ensuite. Staff is friendly, you get free cereal breakfast, it's cheap, it's an hostel.... We're used to hostels but.... This one needs a deep cleaning...NOW! Kitchen is just sticky, and most of kitchen...

It is a hostel at the first place - you should keep that in mind. Then you probably will not be too disappointed. It was not very clean; both the bathroom and kitchen was ancient and the bed was a bit squeaky. But if you kept reminding yourself "come on, I only pay £18. It is much warmer than a...
