Aviemore has grown since I last visited . It has a lot more attractions. Similarly the hotel has been refurbished with the rooms being particularly well done. However nothing much can be done to disguise the age of the building. Staff were not particularly impressive nor indeed was the food. Could not get the cloud wifi to work .Needs a...

We booked a suite (D,B&B) at the Macdonald Highlands Hotel for a weekend away before we had read any reviews - very unlike us! I then spent some time reading the reviews and was a bit concerned but we always take reviews with a pinch of salt. We arrived on the Friday evening around 5pm and were quickly checked in...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a coach tour. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The food however was poor . The portions were small with little or no vegetables. The desserts were also of an inadequate size for adults. The service was very slow and badly organised. Our expectations from this 4 star hotel were sadly...

We have been to Aviemore on many occasions but as this was a last minute desicion the Macdonald Highlands was all that was available. Vastly overpriced, and not what I would rate as a 4* hotel. The building itself is very dated and the rooms can be very awkward to locate, especially if you are carrying luggage. The rooms have...

I had booked 3 rooms at the Morlich Hotel in this Aviemore resort run by Macdonalds Hotels as we were hoping to photograph ospreys in the local lochan. Just before leaving home, we were told that we were being up-graded to the Highlands Hotel which they call their "signature" hotel on the resort. There are 4 hotels in the resort...

As we arrived we were quite lost as it was our first visit to the hotel. We travelled by train and it was just a 2 minute walk away across the road. Very easy access. We found ourselves at the Strath Spey hotel of the resort and as we went in we were greeted by a friendly smile. The night...

We were 'upgraded' to this hotel. Very nice room with a huge bed. Very comfortable clean and tidy. The reception staff were great as were all of the hotel staff. The restaurant was very good. Well organised and good food at a reasonable cost.

We stayed for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. We were on the 3rd floor in a spacious room with double bed and additional single. We have no complaints about the room which was well decorated and furnished. Bed was large and comfortable with clean linen. Bathroom was well maintained with thick, fluffy towels and toiletries which were...

I came here for a three day break, bed and breakfast at a cost of nearly 450 pounds. Apparently there has been a 5 million investment in the resort, my family did not witness any of this in this hotel or the leisure pool. Room was exactly the same as four years ago but now the small internal fridge was...
