We received a very friendly and warm welcome on arrival, the hotel is stunningly decorated and our room was beautifully presented. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was fab. We had dinner and breakfast , and both were superb. All staff were attentive, friendly and helpful and they all made our short stay 5+star. If we are ever back in Glasgow we will return.
Great long weekend stay at the Dakota, can`t thank the staff enough for their help, information, friendliness & professionalism, room was very nice with plenty facilities, attention to detail was perfect, dining was first class as was breakfast, 5 minute walk to Sauchiehall Street 10 minutes to Buchannan Street, first visit to the Dakota, won`t be the last. Fabulous
After a 36hr flight, we finally arrived in Glasgow very late at night, Andrew made us feel very welcome, and offered us a drink as we had such a long day, this 1st impression was beautiful, and was only the start. The room was big and spacious, the shower was roasting hot with a rainfall setting! In the morning the breakfast manager was Javier was the most friendly guy we could meet at 8am, he really made us feel welcome. We spoke to Rosie, who directed us on to the main strip to go shopping. Concierge (Paul) was also helpful and booked us a table downstairs in the grill for that night. The service in the restaurant was 2nd to none, outstanding, the steak was delicious. Jack's Bar, we tried the local beer on tap, and a cocktail or 3, I don't remember what we had, but Dan was choosing the for us - outstanding. Each and every member of staff were unique and friendly in their own way, Dakota should be proud. We briefly spoke to the manager on reception, she was lovely to talk to, I think on checkout it was a girl called Caitlin, she was also happy to keep our bags for a few hours until we were ready to leave such a beautiful, friendly city. We know know What makes Glasgow what it is. The People. We will 100% be back.…
I was booked into the Dakota as part of a work trip. A lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff. The small suite booked was the perfect home away from home. My only problem was housekeeping, in what I can only assume was their best efforts to tidy up, did away with 3/4 of a bottle of wine and some soft drinks which I had been looking forward to enjoying at the end of a long and rewarding day of work. Thankfully the bar was still open for me to purchase more wine, although having enquired about the missing wine, I was surprised to have not been offered, at the very least, a replacement glass.
The place is nice but very darkly lit. The shower wasn’t hot & we had to get maintenance to fix it. On our second day our room was not made even though we had been out all day. When we called before heading for dinner we were told it would be but the cleaning staff came to us to tell Us they were leaving for the day & couldn’t service us. They gave us new towels but said it was too late to clean. I’ve never heard such a thing. Our room was serviced the next day. The front desk was hit/miss on friendliness & service. Overall an ok experience not worth the price tag.
This was a last minute booking when my flight got cancelled. The staff were lovely and the room was just as nice as the website photos. I can see why it consistently gets great reviews. I would happily return.
Having read prior reviews that were so complementary, I was a bit skeptical of them because the hotel does not charge exorbitant fees. But the cost was indeed reasonable and the experience fantastic. A redo of a downtown building, the interiors are contemporary but with a warm and elegant feel, not the harsh bareness or sameness of other contemporary styles. The grey walls were refreshing, relaxing and not too dark... and thankfully NO black. The decor was clean with a nice mix of elements - classical music sheets framed around our bed, interesting statues and pottery in the halls, and a great shaggy terrier in the lobby - not real, but will fool you! Best bar decor we have seen in a while... love all the 'Jack's', the chairs, tables, spaces, etc. The staff was excellent, the rooms and bathroom well designed and furnished, and though not large, per say, they were arranged to feel as if they were. Great breakfast downstairs. We were sorry to head on our way... Other hotels in many places should take a look at what they have done.…
Gorgeous friendly warm atmosphere! All the staff are so willing to help you enjoy your stay in this wee luxurious hideaway in the middle of the city centre. The bed is extremely comfortable and everywhere is extremely clean too!
