We stayed back in Sept for my father in laws bday and it was excellent, fab service, smooth check in, lovely cocktails, club rooms are nice, the food was very tasty as well. We all enjoyed ourselves and will return.
Just left hotel this morning. Hotel room was lovely although don't think carpet matches the decor and gets very oosy quickly. I was really disappointed after telling hotel it was my 50th that there wasn't even a chocolate or anything in room as a surprise. I know it is covid times but if they are cleaning rooms anyway why not put a little thing in room at same time like a little chocolate? We stayed years ago and got little jelly beans and sweets but nothing this time. We went for meal and it was nice but service was slow slow slow. Sat down at 7.30pm didn't eat main meal till 8.40pm. We mentioned to staff member in restaurant about being my birthday and he brought 2 glasses of prosecco and little dessert to our room later which was a nice thought but my husband are it as it was too late for me at that time of night. Our breakfast in morning was a bit of disaster we only ordered crossants which were undercooked then 20 mins for new ones which were burnt so we were not charged for 2 boiled eggs and scrambled eggs and salmon. Very very slow service in the morning too although the lady serving us was very nice and very apologetic. Also I like to keep my little shampoo and conditioner etc as a souvenir of hotel but we couldn't do that as it's fixed to wall now but lady in restaurant managed to find me a couple to keep so that was a nice gesture. All in all the staff are trying their best in these circumstances but need to be a bit quicker in restaurant. Been twice to this hotel, it was nice but I don't think I will rush back. …
We came during the COVID-19 restrictions, but the experience was fairly disappointing. On our first night, we tried to order some cocktails (part of the offer we booked with), to be told that it wasn’t cocktails, it was a gin and tonic. Not a problem - chose 2 drinks, then rang back to say that they didn’t have X gin... not a problem, we’ll choose another one. We then went down to the restaurant for dinner (part of the offer we booked with). The food was horrible - the main came with NO sides, these had to be ordered separately. The chicken made me feel sick to the point where I didn’t eat it and the fries had a hair in them. Needless to say, I didn’t have the pudding which was in our three course deal, the hair put me off. The hairdryer in the room was cold, thus rendering it completely ineffective - incredibly disappointing. The only thing which wasn’t cold was the room which was like sleeping on the sun, absolutely boiling. Our breakfast was cold. I understand that due to COVID restrictions, they were serving continental at tables, but I don’t think it’s asking for too much to have hot, even warm toast... stone cold toast is not what I expect when I’m paying to stay somewhere. The waiter forgot to serve us with milk and sugar for our tea, and failed to give us the same menu options as another couple. At this point, I simply wanted to get out of the hotel as soon as possible. Overall, I would not recommend the hotel at all. There was an overwhelming feeling of trying to get you in and out as soon as possible. I completely understand that there were restrictions in place, however, I don’t think the restrictions are to blame for cold toast, cold hairdryers and hairs in food - that’s just poor.…
Extremely good hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed. Lovely room very quiet and clean. Next to all the interesting bits of Glasgow, a short walk right into the city centre and railway station. Breakfast really tasty. Overall though a good place to stay.
We booked for my cousin’s 60th birthday - we were due to be in London. Got an email a few days before our stay offering an upgrade deal. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to the Scotia Suite. The suite was amazing, we even had two TVs. Extremely comfy corner couch and a surround sound system. Gorgeous bathroom with a walk in shower and huge bath. We had picked the half board option and our dinners and breakfasts were all lovely. Staff were all extremely helpful and social distancing was observed. Loved it so much we’re heading back for another two night stay for my birthday in December.
