Myself and my wife visited 'The New Inn' as a wee night away to visit the beautiful St Andrews. The following review should note that I believe this accommodation has the bones of an absolutely fantastic B&B, however it just missed the mark on a few important areas. My wife is pregnant and due to noise issues we really struggled...

St Andrews is renown for expensive golf course hotels, period BnBs and further afield accommodation - however, if one is prepared to look for something different and modest look no further, The New Inn is the place. At fist, the check in via the pub is a tad intimidating, but soon the friendliness of the staff and the relaxed atmosphere...

On the night I visited it was very quiet and struck me as a locals pub. Not unfriendly but not overly welcoming either. It reminded me of the scene in trainspotting where the American tourist finds himself off the beaten track and gets into bother. It wasn't like that really because I think it must receive its fair share of...

We experienced very friendly staff from the welcome to the departure and the bar staff. Yes the decor is dated but here, the service outweighed how I felt about the decor. Had everything we needed, close drinks and then the bed close after that.

The hotel is not in the city center, but about 15 minutes from there. But most of the hotels were booked. Our room was simple, but large. The breakfast in the morning is OK, but it is served in the back of the bar. No parking places, the parking is just on the street.

This is a good choice for affordable accommodation and a good base to plan your days. The bathroom area was pretty large and the hot water and pressure were great. The breakfast was cooked to order and everyone was incredible nice. They even recommended a place for a very late dinner a short cab ride away. We appreciate the hospitality.

Had a few days in St Andrews before a wedding - and wanted to play a bit of golf. To be honest, most of the town seemed booked up, and what was free was very expensive. But the New Inn was available and worked out really well. It is not five-star luxury but the people we met - the owner,...
