You couldn't wish for a warmer welcome than the one Edna provides at the Pillars. Three chaps up for the funeral of one of our friends; a sad occasion perhaps but Edna took away so much of the stress. Her hotel is friendly, warm, the beds are very comfortable and everything is scrupulously clean. And breakfast... wow, a stunning Full...

Me and Janne had another great stay at Pillar's House for a long weekend. Everything was top notch, as always, and Holly did a magnificent job with the breakfasts, provided gluten free toast for me, and even gluten free haggis! You're the best :-)

Stayed here so that we could go to my husbands works Christmas party. What a find it was, a wee gem in the city, close to transport links into the heart of Edinburgh etc. We were in a triple room which, even with three single beds, wasn't cramped. We even had a fridge and safe in the room at no...

Stayed at the hotel as part of a group of 5 couples on a motorbike trip around Scotland. Edna had pretty much everything sorted for us by time we got there. She will look after you during your stay and has plenty of advice what to do, where to go etc and the font of all knowledge. We parked the...

We stayed at Pillars House during the Edinburgh Fringe and were made to feel most welcome by all staff. Always happy to give advice and share local knowledge, our stay there was so good that we even booked an extra night. Great Scottish breakfasts, warm hearted smiles, and just a stone's throw from the city centre.

We booked this B and B because of it's location and consistently positive reviews on trip advisor. Whilst it was true that the staff were very friendly and helpful the quality of the place was poor. Overall the whole place smelt musty and the cleanliness of the room was very poor. I had to wash the kettle and cups before...

I stayed here in July 2014 whilst visiting Scotland for the Commonwealth Games. The staff couldn't have been more friendly. Edna and her husband were delightful as were the ladies making our breakfast each morning. On the first day we had to be in Glasgow early meaning we would miss breakfast so they made us some rolls and snacks to...

The breakfast was fantastic could never fault it and they had vegemite for us aussies which I had not seen since being here. I would highly recommend Pillars House to anyone visiting Edinburgh...

We needed a location not too far from the centre which had secure parking for the bikes and this fitted the bill. The accommodation was good, breakfast hearty and the owners and staff friendly and welcoming. Be careful if youbdtrugglei with stairs most / all the rooms are a few flights up!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pillars house was originally built and owned by Crawford which were offices and a spirit store in the late 18th century. Most of the building still has a lot of its character left as you can see as you walk in through the main entrance. The courtyard where our free parking is situated was traditionally used as the delivery entrance where the horse and carts brought the whiskey from the highlands to be blended. ... more   less
