Stayed here on a 5pm deal and got the most basic room. Room was beautiful, really well decorated with a huge comfy bed, bathroom was also fab with a rainfall shower which was lovely, nice toiletries etc. Had our dinner in the restaurant as part of the deal as well, you get a 5pm menu but if you decide there...

Had a brilliant stay. Edinburgh is such a historical city, so it is nice to stay in this sleek modern hotel as a contrast. Big comfy bed, very clean bathroom, all-round great.Top notch cocktails downstairs too.

My wife and I really enjoyed our long birthday weekend which started off with dinner on the Thursday evening, an overnight stay and breakfast. We purchased one of the non-weekend deals and it's excellent value for money. Our dinner was lovely (I supplemented the food, as I wanted a steak), followed by a few drinks and the overnight stay. Our...

We will definitely be returning! We stayed here for 2 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. Expecting it to be quiet since we stayed Sunday - Tuesday however it was busy and had a great atmosphere. Really nice bar to sit in. Good breakfast also.

Wonderful , bar in the heart of a wonderful city. Great atmosphere, great mix of people ,all ages (which is good when you are 56). To say this is a busy popular bar you get served quickly , & there are loads of places to hover . A night in edinburgh wouldn't be the same without a couple of hours...

This was my third time staying in the hotel and it is undeniable it is a smart stylish hotel. You pay a lot for a room here but all the rooms are of a very high standard and the beds are incredible. The room we stayed in this time was the black room. It is a lovely room with a...

If you want to splash out on luxury and glam, and want to spoil yourself silly, this hotel is the one for you, with £245 a night being the cheapest rooms they have. The location is spot on, with the hotel being slap bang in the centre of the city, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. Not only that, the...

Lovely hotel, chic, friendly, great food. Location perfect for George street and princes street and only a short walk to Grassmarket and Royal Mile. I stay here when working in Edinburgh. Room 34 is lovely and quiet. A bit expensive but worth it if you can afford it.

Will not be retuning to Tiger Lily again because there is no point being resident in this hotel. When we arrived too early for our room the staff at reception offered to store our luggage till our room was ready, This seemed a good proposition so we adjourned to the bar for coffee. The bar was being managed single-handedly by...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
