stayed here for our anniversary in a Georgian Mini Suite which was lovely, spacious & comfortable. the bathroom was nice but would have preferred a walk in shower rather than the bathtub especially when there was ample space for this. the fireplace was a personal favourite! agree with the other reviewers who have mentioned the noise from the nearby club,... This hotel is gorgeous and feels like you have stepped into a little haven of luxury on George Street. My best friend and I visited to celebrate our 50th birthdays as a treat to each other rather than buying presents. The room was gorgeous and you would never have known you were in the centre of the city - lovely... More

Stayed on Saturday night of an extremely busy weekend in Edinburgh. The bar downstairs was standing room only. Normally I would expect a hotel to have a lobby where I could sit and have a drink. This place was throbbing. When we went to bed the music was still very loud. The hotel management should give people a better idea... More

This is a strange hotel that seems to have an identity crisis. On one hand it is posing as an ubercool, boutique hotel but on the other it is really a crowded bar-restaurant-disco with rooms above. And there lies the problem: it is chaotic and noisy. There is no separate hotel lobby and you walk straight past the bar -... More

We have overnighted here a few times and are never disappointed . The coolest staff and excellent ambiance. Our check in was superb , a friendly bubbly receptionist who checked us in although we were early for the check in time of 3p.m. and arranged for our luggage to be taken to the room that wasn't quite ready. This was... More

Lovely hotel, this was our second visit this year. The rooms are very well decorated and have lots of little home comforts and gadgets. The cocktails are great, an absolute must, we had some lunch which was tasty however the service wasn't great and we eventually had to go to the bar for our bill but wouldn't put us off... More

Literally had a surprise for my birthday to stay overnight and have drinks and a meal. The room was gorgeous. Every member of staff was so lovely and helpful and made us feel welcome. The breakfast which we had in bed was fantastic. Hotel was so stylish and beautiful. I can't wait to return

We have just finished a 2 night stay at the tigerlily hotel and all i can say is this place is absolutely amazing. I have no faults whatsoever and only have positive things to say about our stay. We were initially greeted by the reception staff who told us our room wasn't ready however we could leave our bags there... More

Put up with heavy base coming up from the nightclub in the basement untill 3 AM. No sleep. Have to be up in three hours. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, this was a £140/night room. Very very poor

My husband and I visited this week to celebrate our anniversary and it was great. We are from the a la carte menu both ordering rump steaks which was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was lovely and couldn't have done enough for us. The surroundings while eating were lovely and despite there being a lot of people in the bar... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
