Despite the great location a great room this was probably the worse night sleep (if sleep was possible) that I've ever had in a hotel. It was like trying to sleep in a night club. Before you book a room here check to make sure they have no events on as you'll not get to sleep if they do. Despite...

I booked this as a romantic night away for my boyfriends birthday at £300 for a night. We got the very business like room Sydney. This room is perfect for someone on a business trip it's like a nice big office with a bed in it but wouldn't recommend for a romantic night away. You cant request a room but...

We had a lovely room (Reykjavik) in a wonderful hotel. Location was super and an easy walk to major sights and the Waverly Station, as well as to some truly fantastic restaurants (Fishers in the City, Jamie's Italian). Our only complaint is that the angle of the tv hanging from the ceiling was too low and whenever you got up...

The location of the hotel in George Street is excellent, very central and there is a large selection of bars and restaurants in this street. The cocktail bar in the hotel is very funky and popular and I like the restaurant. My room was very spacious and themed like a 19th century Parisian boudoir. I found the staff very friendly...

I really loved the stylish design and the size of the room. It's also at a very good location! I had 2 nights' comfortable stay in Le Monde. The only problem I had was that the windows could not firmly close. As there's a club downstairs, I really needed them to block the noise :)

Hi, We’re so glad to hear that you enjoyed you stay at Le Monde Hotel, and that you liked our comfortable and stylish rooms. As you say we are greatly situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre. This does mean that we can be sometimes affected by street noise during the weekends that is out with our control. We...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
