Although the room at the Braveheart Guest House was nothing too special, we were thoroughly satisfied with our stay. Check in and check out were simple, with the manager allowing us to keep our bags behind the desk until our room was ready. Thanks again!

Braveheart Guest House is perfect if you are searching for something not too expensive and close to the city center. The rooms and bathroom are small but enough if it is a short visit. It was the three of us and we stayed for a night, so it had everything we needed. It also included breakfast which was another positive...

This guest house is small on size but big on service. The manager was extremely helpful and ensured our car was securely parked, he even carried a very heavy case up stairs to our room. The bed was very comfortable and although the ensuite was small and compact, there was a good shower.

I would stay here again. The location is great! It was neat and tidy the host was friendly and a great sense of humour. I asked about getting in after 10.30 (stupid question) and I loved the seriousness when he told me they have a 9.45pm curfew I almost believed him. I didn't get a chance to try breakfast even...

Just returned from weekend in Edinburgh and stayed at Braveheart. Have had a lovely weekend, although tiring. The hotel is close to city centre and was very clean, comfy bed and good breakfast. The proprietor was very helpful and staff friendly . Would recommend for a very reasonable price.

Owner was friendly but he or Receptionist was not present at all the time, Wifi was okay as it was not connected in 2 of our phones out of 6. I felt...

Friendly staff who were always ready to help. The breakfast was very good. Parking is a bit of an issue but that's the case for most places in the city. The beds themselves weren't were comfortable and were very narrow.

I booked for one night only but it was well worth it for the price. Though I arrived 8am and was told my room was not ready til 2pm I was a little distraught but I was able to leave my luggage with them and venture out. The staff is very friendly and can help call to book tours for...

A good location on bus routes. The staff were helpful with maps, directions etc. I stayed for two nights and had a good breakfast both mornings. I got what I paid for. It was a good base for me to explore Edinburgh during the festival. I would stay there again.

We stayed in a room for 5 on the first floor. One of the beds was broken and squeaked every time my son turned in bed. Bathroom was smelly and very small, added later into the room. The general look of the hotel was not good. Beds and the room were clean(ish) but very worn and old. The breakfast was...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
