I would give 5 starts but the car park situation. Struggled to get my car park ticket validated 1 day, it took 3 trips walking from car park to hotel, to get sorted, I lost 1 hour trying to get this sorted.
have just stayed 2 nights while up for the eagles concert at murrayfield very clean rooms. breakfast was buffet style and loads to eat. all delicious. staff are very helpful. Will recommend to family and friends.
Reception: The lobby was a mess, people everywhere and two check in desks. We arrived around 3.15 pm, to a very busy check in area with 2 staff on (1 trainee and an experienced staff member). Despite this, we only waited a few minutes. Guest water and glasses in the check in foyer were often empty and used glasses left on the bench for hours on end. These were not cleared and replaced for other guests to enjoy. Room / facilities: Room number 722 is on the 7th floor and is fairly clean, except for someones hairs all over the bathroom walls and floor. Towels were brand new, never been washed and left fluff everywhere on ones body. The room has a double bed, 2 pillows and 2 wrapped in plastic in the storage shelves, there is a small hanging area, the bathroom is a compact pre built “module”. The cleaner has neglected on two occasions, to check and fill the liquid soap in the shower. I have had to eventually remove the bottle from the shower holder to get it re-filled. There is no fridge in the room, no face tissues, nor are there any hand towels or face washers provided. Self control air conditioning with a window that opens (after its been unlocked by staff). The pigeon stench that then filled the room from the widow being opened was terrible Parking: There is no onsite parking, but the NCP Holyyroodo Street car parking structure is discounted to £12.50 per 24 hours, once validated by the hotel. This is approx 800m from the hotel. Wifi: Complementary and good speed. Email input validation is required. Breakfast: Included in our room package. We arrived at breakfast at 9.15am to find many food items empty, or if there was food, the human vultures were swarming around the food, making it impossible to get any food items. The covid practice signs on display were totally ignored by guests. The traditional English buffet breakfast is from 7.00am to 10.00am and consists of cereals, yogurt, breads (to toast) jams and spreads, fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, bacon, haggis, potato gems, baked beans, sausages, sliced meats and cheeses, diced fruits, juices, tea and coffee. Refill of food items was quiet slow, with the hot food, just warm by the time it was put into the warmer for guests. Conclusion: Good spot for a very short stay. Letdowns: No fridge or tissues in the room, South Bridge facing rooms are very noisy with traffic and people noise when the window is open, day and night. Cleaners not refilling liquid soap. Brand new towels not washed before use. Location / Nearby: The Edinburgh South bridge facilities and attractions, Tesco and Lidl supermarkets (within 3 min walk). The information is not related to the hotel: Beware: No matter where you drive to in town or the UK, payment for parking is required. Most parking meters accept coin and card “tap” facilities (if functioning). Generally after 6.00pm or 8.00pm parking is free, in designated locations.…
I stayed in a premium room for four nights and it was worth paying a bit extra. I had a view of Arthurs' seat. The room was spacious, with large screen tv, kettle, iron and ironing board and hairdryer. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Good selection at breakfast and at the restaurant.
We stayed here in May for a couple of nights visiting Edinburgh. It is a great location to explore the city and to visit the castle which is about a 5 to 10 min walk away. We had a lovely welcome on arrival and our room was clean and comfortable, everything we needed was available. Although the hotel is situated on a busy road we didn't experience any noise from traffic which was great. We had dinner both nights in the hotel bar/restaurant and the food was good. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was included and it was as expected, a good variety of hot and cold items available. It is good value for money and I would recommend it for a short stay in Edinburgh.
Visited Edinburgh for a few days and stayed at Ibis for one night. Firstly, when we arrived check in was quick, the layout of the hotel was explained and finding the room was easy. I was travelling with my mum and on entering the room we found it to be a double when we had booked a twin, we left the room straightaway and went back to reception, we explained that we had booked a twin, not a double, the lady on reception checked my booking and said we were booked for a double, I was ready to argue, when she said, no worries, I can change it, it was quickly sorted and we got a twin room. The room itself is pretty basic, two beds, quite close together, we moved them. Hanging space a TV, an ensuite with shower, sink and toilet, quite compact but holds everything you need for a few days, tea tray had a lot of choices of teas, coffees and biscuits, my only grumble is there was only two English tea bags on the tray the rest was fruit tea, not to worry though as there are tea facilities in the restaurant. Once we had unpacked we noticed that there were no towels, not a problem for me as I had packed my own, however, my mum had not. We went down to reception to enquire about towels and the very helpful ladies were able to provide us with as many as we needed. We were going out for an evening meal, however, the restaurant facilities at the restaurant had more than enough on offer if you wished to stay in. The lady at reception was, again, very helpful and gave us a map to find the restaurant, which was a 10 minute walk away. On the morning of check out, we went down for breakfast at 7am, the breakfast room was laid out well, a buffet style breakfast so you can help yourself, where to start? A full cooked breakfast, you can pick and choose what to fill your plate with, continental, which included, pastries, baguettes, yoghurt, fruit, bread to toast, ham, cheese and so many preserves for your various breads and pastries, as well as fruit juices, tea and coffee. It really was so delicious. Check out was super quick and we were on our way to our next adventure. Overall, this is a good, clean and tidy hotel, if all you are wanting is a bed and some breakfast in the morning, I don't think I would stay for longer than a day or two. Staff are super efficient, helpful and friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us, which we were grateful for. The hotel is well positioned for exploring the local area too, next to lots of restaurants, cafes and is central to all amenities. …
Incredible location. Clean and has everything you’d need for a one night stay. Would’ve liked an open window but they were locked. Staff seem a bit clueless but they are young and maybe yet to learn the ropes. Breakfast was pleasant. For the money spent for our stay, I’d say it was well worth it for even the location alone. It’s not quite the ritz but I’m basing my review on this particular hotel and calibre.
Stayed here for 2 nights after we'd completed the NC500. Our room was on floor 9. Nice and quiet, view out to the sea in the distant. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. We didn't eat within the hotel so unable to comment on the food. We ate at the Carnivore restaurant which was tasty. Ideal location for the centre of Edinburgh and would definitely stay here again
Great location, and helpful staff. Room was nice and clean. We were on the bottom floor just above a nightclub that was going until 3am - staff offered us earplugs. The breakfast was good, but the system for getting coffee was not - i queued for 7/8 minutes for coffee a few times over the week I stayed here.
Super location just steps from the Royal Mile and about a 12 minute walk from the train station. Lots of food options near by. The room was quiet (we faced away from the street) and very clean. Only notables were that there is no phone in the room (reception offers their whatsapp number on check in though) and our door lock was a bit of a trick to get working.
