First thing struck me was every room has the name of a celebrity (ex. Sean Connery, Lulu, Liberace, etc.,) near the individual room entrance door. This added a nice touch! Receptionists were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast meals were extremely good (located in their restaurant on the ground floor level). The hotel is a closed walking distance to Edinburgh Castle...

Just back from a 5 day stay at Angels Share Hotel. Service was second to none. Young Hotel Manager named Scott, was extremely helpful and was at hand to recommend places to visit and repair plug in bathroom sink... Extremely kind and helpful chap, an asset to the hotel. Great live music in the bar on a Saturday night.

I booked my 2 night stay here a while in advance via hotels.com and when I arrived I was advised that they knew nothing of my booking and they understandably needed to see my email to show the details. Me and my partner were advised that the type of room we had booked was fully booked so we would have...

Stayed here for two nights fri-sun. I don't normally stay in hotels like this but my bf booked it so thought I'd give it a go. First impressions. It's quirky and fun. The bar is impressive and has a nice selection of live bands and vocalists in an evening which is great. Truly great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at...

Stopped here with my Partner for the weekend as we were attending a Jack Savoretti Concert at the very nearby Usher Hall. After some mix up with a room request we were given the Gerard Butler after requesting the Ewan McGregor room, my partner was not too concerned. We were given a Voucher for 2 glasses of Prosecco to have...

I selected this hotel based on the name, really and the location was good. This is my 3 or 4th trip to Edinburgh. Very pleasantly surprised at the attention to details in the rooms and the restaurant. The tea cakes and coffee, mini bar, chandelier lighting, mod cons and plush beds ..... I mean come on, I shared a room...

Great hotel in central location! The pictures of this hotel don't do it justice!! The hotel is stunning. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are amazing! The fact it's all famous Scots is even better. Food in the restaurant was brilliant. We will definitely stay here again.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
