From arrival to departure, the staff were very attentive. The apartment was very well equipped and all within easy walking distance of all of the sights of Edinburgh. Parking was around the corner and although there were only three spaces, you were informed in advance.

We were recently visiting Edinburgh for our honeymoon and treated ourselves to a few nights at the Chester Residence. Given that we were there on a special occassion our expectations were high and it didn't disappoint. Arriving into Edinburgh by train we walked to our destination to take in the views and feel of the city. From Waverley, and not... More

We have just spent a night in the Chester Residence combining a business trip and my birthday and we have just experienced the most wonderful accommodation and service. Right from the initial booking to check out it can only be described as world class . We stayed in the Owner Residence and have both travelled extensively staying in many 5... More

I booked this hoping it would live up to TripAdvisor reviews as I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a quiet proposal. Obviously wanting to check it was a beautiful apartment first. It lived up to the reviews and was the perfect location. Needless to say, highly recommended!

An evening of good food and cocktails kicked off well upon arrival at the Chester Residence. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Apartment was out of this world throughout. It had everything and more. Decor, stylish and chic. Great stay.

This was booked as a birthday weekend away for myself and my husband and we were totally delighted at the apartment and the excellent service we received. Wonderful accommodations and terrific service. The apartment was tastefully done, and extremely comfy. The added plus was being in walking distance from a fun neighborhood full of good restaurants and fun shops. Highly recommend The Chester. I'd be happy to stay there again!

First of all, my friend and I were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment! We felt very safe. The location is in a quiet residential neighborhood about 15 minute stroll from the castle. A small grocery store and money exchange is a few blocks away. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. We loved our stay!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
