Had a two night wonderful stay at the Chester Apartments and would definitely consider staying again. Cosily situated in the leafy West End area amongst small offices and residential apartments it really is a classy way to stay in Edinburgh. I gave it 4/5 as there were a few snagging issues with the flat including a soap rack hanging off...

Stayed for 2 nights and couldn't fault the service. We had the deluxe apartment and every room was clean, spacious and had all the mod cons you require for a city break. If you want something extra then go for the hotel packages, well worth the extra dosh and can be tailored to your coming and goings which we took...

Stunning apartment in a perfect location only overshadowed by the service which is both friendly and professional. Would recommend to anyone wanting luxury. So much space and meticulously kept to the highest standards.

My partner and I booked an apartment at The Chester Residence for a short break in Edinburgh and were over the moon when we arrived. The apartments are within beautiful West End Townhouses and only a short walk from the city centre. We were given a free upgrade to the Owners's Residence - it was incredible - massive Jacuzzi, cinema...

I stayed here in May 2014 and was nothing but impressed. From the moment we arrived and were greeted on the street, to the moment we left we were treated so well by all the staff. They referred to us by name at all times and their attention to detail is amazing! We stayed on Chester Street and the apartments...

Amazing stay at The Chester Residence. Loved the homey yet very luxurious feel. Everything we needed from taxi transfers to in-room breakfast, the stay at Chester Residence was a real treat. I love the West End of Edinburgh & highly recommend. Location is great and an easy walking distance to Old/ New towns & great bars and restaurants.

The location is excellent, walking distance from everything yet really quiet in a beautiful area. The apartment was amazing, surprisingly spacious, the living room was beautiful yet homely. All rooms were well decorated with everything you could need. The bath and shower were fantastic post marathon and rain! The garden was an added bonus. The staff were really helpful, I...

We tried the Chester Residence 2 years ago as an alternative to staying at a hotel or B&B, and it was a brilliant discovery. There is no other place we'd rather stay when in town. We stayed there again when we were "stuck" in town an extra night due to a cancelled flight. The apartments are large and spacious with...

We stayed during the easter bank holiday at the annex ( 5 mins from main hotel)which had a private garden courtyard. The location is circa 15 min or so walk from George street( nice bars there) and rose street( nice pubs) in new town. A very pretty residence , well equipped kitchen and a great couples sanctuary. The only slight...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
