I cannot express how gorgeous this apartment was. The living room was bigger than my entire flat back at home! Beautiful decor, top of the range facilities and helpful staff made this a truly enjoyable stay in a fantastic city. My boyfriend and I selected the Chill at Chester package, meaning we were greeted with lots of snacks, wine, DVDs...

Got a voucher for Christmas to stay here for two nights. Warm welcome at reception from Sabrine/Sabrina (apologies), she took us up to our apartment, showed us about & was so helpful. The apartment was unreal, everything you could ever need in it. Complimentary breakfast, toiletries & little touches like a little bottle of fresh milk to be able to...

Wow... never before have I stayed in a hotel so luxurious for a city break. My boyfriend took us here for our first city break together (he must have been trying to impress, ha!) and from the moment I stepped in I was blown away. Located in the Old Town, it is about a 10-15 minute walk from Princes St...

We were in the 2 bedroom apartment (with garden access). It was perfect for our family of 5. A home away from home. The staff were very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The facilities within the apartment were fantastic and having the garden made the place seem more 'homely'. The cocktails delivered to our apartment were fantastic and our...

I cannot recommend The Chester Residence highly enough after having a couple of days in one of their one-bedroom apartments. Before heading up we decided to book a few different hotels for our stay to get a different experience and boy, did we regret it. The other 5 star hotels we stayed at didn't compare in the slightest and we...

Just had a 2 night stay at this wonderful property with my partner. It's a great location just 10 minutes from the end of Princes St and the apartment was fantastic. Three beautiful spacious rooms - lounge/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom - all really well appointed and supplied. But the best thing was the warmth and helpfulness of the staff. A...

This is the third time my friends and I have stayed at the Chester Residence and again had a fantastic time. The friendly reception, the lovely apartment, the relaxed welcome drinks on the Saturday evening, all great and the kind touch for my friends birthday leaving a bottle of prosecco and a birthday card for her arrival, lovely gesture. Nothing...

We were really looking forward to staying here after reading some of the reviews and we weren't disappointed. We had the downstairs 2 bedroom suite which was beautiful. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
