Room was spacious and clean. Bed a little lumpy and pillows hard. There was a 'chemical' smell in the room when we arrived and as the windows were large internal sliding panels with a space between them and the external window there was no way to air the room. Our room was on an upper floor and connected to other...

This hotel works for the location and cost. You are right on princes street and can walk to the royal mile, the castle and lots of stores. The hotel room itself is sparse. You have a bed and a place to hang 6 items. There is a desk and 1 chair. There were no nightstands or dresser. The bed has...

We arrived and had only booked for one adult and one child but I'd asked a friend and her son to come as it was a family room. The receptionist spotted this and offered to add another bed if required. The room was perfectly laid out so wasn't required but she made a point of asking us on departure. Great...

The staff at this travelodge were wonderful. The room is well appointed and the location is prime looking out over the Waverley station and Princes Street gardens. Very good value for money. I would certainly use again.

Excellent location and great value. Ten minutes walk from the long stay car park by the station. Right at the heart of the city. I had room 205 where one wall was glass - on to an old mews lane and a little noisy first thing, but I don't mind lying and dozing while i listen to others working. The...

Can't fault the hotel at all. Great location - literally straight over the road from Edinburgh Waverly station. You can walk to the majority of sites in minutes. The front facing rooms also offer fabulous views over Edinburgh including the Scott monument and the castle. The rooms are less noisy than the ones in other areas (e.g. rose street) in...

The hotel room was spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed and we were welcomed by very friendly and attentive staff and we were allowed to leave our bags until check in time. The only drawback, and that is the reason for the low score was the noise issues, In the early hours some sort of rowdy party was happening...

Thank you taking the time to leave us feedback. We are truly sorry to learn that your stay was affected by external noise. Our more central locations may be noisier however to ensure our guests are comfortable we do provide double glazing and we try to work with the local areas and communities. It is regrettable to hear this was...

An excellent hotel for a one night stop over. Superb city centre location with a great view of the city centre from my 4th floor window. Friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and well appointed. The bed was large and comfortable. Job was most definitely a good 'un

Good central location, once you find it !, tucked away. Staff very helpful. Some nearby building work noise, but that is not down to Travel Lodge. Paying to park nearby is a dear hobby, but what you would expect for city centre. All good

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
