We stayed here as a party of six in three rooms and we were all happy with this hotel. Location, staff, bar drinks and breakfast were all very good.Would definitely use again when in Edinburgh. Very busy.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past for a girls weekend, and we had a lovely time. Therefore I decided to rebook it for a romantic break with my hubby. We prefer small boutique hotels and in fact chose this hotel over Tigerlily due to the super service provided by Jessica, she was attentive and incredibly patient when...

Rick's is a lovely Bar/Restaurant with adjoining rooms. My Mum and I stayed here for one night in Room 8, located on the 3rd floor and was a twin room. There is no lift within Rick's and so be aware you will have to climb stairs to reach any of the rooms and the bar/restaurant itself is also situated down...

Food was excellent , as we had pre booked we got it half price 🤗 the steak was the best we have had in a long time. The chilli chips yum yum Location is good, close to all the other bars. The bar it's self is a mixture of comfy couches to diner chairs- reception was a cheery lady with...

Positives: Lovely boutique style decor Plenty of room to sit No need to book, just turned up Great value lunch menu (2 mains for £10) Friendly profession staff Nice atmosphere Negatives: Ladies toilet doors need better handles in the inside (not much to grab hold of)

Stayed in Room 1 - was far too hot, which you just don't expect in March, no way of cooling except to open the windows. Windows back on to a lane that seemed to be a loading/trash collection area. Could hear people talking right outside until way past 2am. The other noise during the night was horrendous even though I...

Many thanks for your feedback - and apologies that your stay wasn't a restful one. We appreciate your comments and the issues you have highlighted. We will soon be closed for major refurbishment, addressing many of the things that detracted from your stay. Unfortunately, as with many Edinburgh tenement buildings, a lift cannot be installed. However, we are currently investigating...

5 of us went for lunch year for a general catch up and to celebrate a birthday. The service was pretty slow and eventually we had to ask if someone would take our order. The starters took so long, by the time we had finished there was only one fish left when we had order two so I had to...

Thank you for your comments. Apologies for the slow service received on your visit. It was a busy lunch service for us, and proved to be challenging as everyone seemed to be hungry for the same thing. Please also accept our apologies for the confusion over billing. Our gin offer applies to selected gins and the tonic on draft. Slimline...

So I'm not a big gin drinker but every time I come here, I turn into a big gin drinker! The atmosphere is awesome. The staff is friendly and I just take recommendations from the staff and they really know their gin! One improvement recommendation would be to improve the music they play.

It has been years since the four if us had food here and wondered why? It used to be a regular venue for us and we thought to give it a try again. Thus turned out to be a big mistake. We ate off the £10 2 course menu and all of our burgers were well over cooked and totally...

It's a number of years since we stayed at Rick's - not that we haven't wanted to, just that any time we have tried it has been full. Such has been the deserved popularity of this central boutique hotel. The bar was quieter than we remember but that made it all the easier to make our way to the back...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
