So I'm not a big gin drinker but every time I come here, I turn into a big gin drinker! The atmosphere is awesome. The staff is friendly and I just take recommendations from the staff and they really know their gin! One improvement recommendation would be to improve the music they play.

It has been years since the four if us had food here and wondered why? It used to be a regular venue for us and we thought to give it a try again. Thus turned out to be a big mistake. We ate off the £10 2 course menu and all of our burgers were well over cooked and totally...

It's a number of years since we stayed at Rick's - not that we haven't wanted to, just that any time we have tried it has been full. Such has been the deserved popularity of this central boutique hotel. The bar was quieter than we remember but that made it all the easier to make our way to the back...

Having spent the morning shopping in Edinburgh my wife and I decided to do our usual thing and head to Rick's for cocktails. Every thing was great we had four cocktails each (approx £60)a waiter came over and put a reserved sign on our table and told us we had 30mins to leave. So I would like to wish them...

Myself and my partner were invited here to celebrate a friends birthday for dinks and food. The staff were friendly and on the ball. Our glasses were never empty and the food platters were simply amazing!! From the pulled pork burgers to the chicken and chorizo skewers everything was delicious and served to a very high standard We also had...

Food was not very tasty. Limited choice. Very grumpy cook. Not recommended. Coffee was awful. My wife asked for fruit every day but this was only provided after a big sigh. There were also some nice waitresses.

We had a lovely family meal here on Sunday. There was one vegan family member and someone who had a nut allergy, staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was excellent and would go back again. We used our itison vouchers.

Anywhere that serves a decent cooked breakfast and has clean comfortable and quiet bedroom with controllable heat has to get a good review. I particularly appreciated the socket near the bed, the complimentary toiletries, black pudding, and good TV. I was a bit put out to discover that what I thought was a (private) 1st floor room actually can be...

What a great experience. First time here and it won't be my last. The service and atmosphere were first class. Our server was pleasant and upbeat, she went thru the menu items we weren't sure about with ease. My steak was perfectly cooked and i could have easily eaten more!. Located in a great area of Edinburgh, we had a...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
