This hotel is in a great area of the city, quite central. Minutes away from plenty of shopping and restaurants. Not too far from tourist attractions. Took the Airlink 100 bus and got off at the stop just before Waverley, which is only a few minutes walk to the hotel. We arrived early, and they were able to store our...

Apart from its excellent central location, this hotel has great, helpful friendly staff. Our room was at the front and overlooked the gardens and the Mound - we had a great view of the firework display one night! The room was spacious and the bed was (as with all Premier beds) super-comfortable. (Having tried their beds a few times, we...

We really enjoyed our short stay here. The rooms were very nice and the staff very helpful. We were able to store our luggage even after we checked out so we could take a day tour before we left the city. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. We were able to get there from the airport using the...

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights during the Fringe Festival in August. Check-in was fast, and Chris at the front desk very kindly changed our room from a disabled room (which the website said was the only one available), to a much nicer one with a castle view. This made all of the difference! Prices were quite high...

We have just returned Sunday from the premier inn on princess st. This visit was booked for my husband as a surprise for his 60th birthday. When I booked this in January I spoke to a lovely young man at the hotel called Chris, after explaining what I was looking for I asked for a castle view room of which...

Excellent city centre hotel, 10 mins walk from waverley station Facilities to leave luggage, delicious breakfast, pricey due to time of year but clean and comfortable. Close to shops, cafes, bars and bus stops to access other areas of the city. Free wifi but not particularly good, can pay for extra but didnt bother as most bars offer free wifi...

We loved staying here. Good location right on Princes Street but still managed a good nights sleep with a quiet and comfortable room. A request for an iron was speedily managed and unlike Front of House were pleasant although the restaurant is busy so do book for Dinner and get up early for breakfast if you are on a timetable....

The hotel is located on the main area of Princes St with great views across the valley over to the castle. All the local bus services stop within a few yards of the front door whilst the nearest tram stop is only about three minutes away further along Princes St. Princes St, although one of the main thoroughfares in the...

Great stay at a comfortable Premier Inn, made particularly memorable because of the excellent, helpful, friendly staff. Good location on Princes Street. Rooms were pricey, but it was the Edinburgh Fringe, so only to be expected.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
