Excellent accommodation & staff! Wonderful breakfast, too! Good location if you like a short walk; taxis available if not. Very clean & comfortable. Great price; would strongly recommend to any couple visiting Edinburgh!

We love Edinburgh and have stayed in various hotels from the Balmoral to Premier Inn but this will be on our list of places to stay again. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location suited us not too far from the western end of Princes street. The decor is interesting and the view from our room over the Firth...

Boutique hotel located on a quiet street but only a few minutes walk from Prince’s Street or Haymarket station. Our top floor room, on the street side was modern but compact with a view of the castle. There is a small two / three person elevator. Nice breakfasting room looking towards Dean Village. Guest lounge and library areas available for...

Great hotel (far more than a b&b, even if breakfast is the only meal on offer). Upgraded to a family suite, which made this a real treat for my wife's birthday. Haven't seen the smaller rooms, but our suite was great with an en-suite shower room, a huge bath in the main bedroom and more storage space than I've ever...

This B&B was nice experience. We had amazing view from our room (best ever, couldn't be better!) and the room was really good. Breakfast could have been better as this is more like B&B than normal hotel. Staff is very friendly, would visit again!

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights, the hotel has a lovely combination of old and new. It was clean, in a great location and the staff were very friendly and helpful especially as my boyfriend was ill. The breakfast was great however slightly chaotic at times. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

I got a good deal on this B&B - £47 excluding VAT. It was formerly a hotel and I'm not sure why it's downgraded to a B&B but it is now part of a small chain. It's in a traditional Georgian terrace and like the Tardis! The entrance hall is huge with a majestic marble staircase and wood panelling. The...

We stayed here for one night, a lovely old building with a beautiful timber staircase. Comfortable room and good breakfast. Very and helpful staff. The only comment; the water machine on the lower floor was empty.

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
