I recently stayed in this hotel, and only have praise for its comfort and style. The decor is very funky and modern, but with a traditional and classic twist. One of the most beautiful features of this hotel is it beautiful library room with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and incredibly comfy sofas and chairs where you can while away the hours with...

We stayed for 3 nights over Easter and this is one of the best places of its type I have ever stayed in. The building dates back over 150 years and has been transformed to its former glory. The entry is magnificent with a marble staircase going up to the first floor. There is reception, a bar and breakfast room...

Ah - ha - the lift! Yes, it is very small but adequate for a couple and their luggage! We are thrilled you have enjoyed B+B Edinburgh as a base for your exploration of the city. We are immensely proud of history and pleased you enjoyed the chance to soak it all up. Please consider our sisters in London, Dorset...

We usually rely on Rick Steve's recommendations but all of his places to sleep required a bus trip to get into the city. I found this in the Lonely Planet book and I'm glad I did. It's a 10 minute walk to Prince St. Very quiet location. View from our room was phenomenal (we were in room 1, a perfect...

Dear Sir Thank you so much for reviewing - it sounds as though you have your work cut out travelling as a five! We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay on many levels. We are delighted to begin working with Rick Steve this year and are welcoming his tours as we speak. I hope your onward travels were as enjoyable...

I came by this absolute gem via a hotel site, and the price was good (more than I'd usually pay for two nights but I was treating myself) and it was a great choice. Not far from Prince Street but tucked away enough that not too much noise got to me at night, the staff was very welcoming and friendly....

Hi Gemma Thank you for reviewing - we truly appreciate feedback. We could while away many hours in the Library - the afternoon sun beams in through those giant windows and it always beautifully peaceful. See you soon...we hope! Thanks again.

Stayed for three nights with my wife and we have to say that this is probably one of the best places of it's type that we have ever stayed in. I think we had the best room ( number five), more like a junior suite than simply a room and it had a great view. The reception staff have got...

Was looking to stay somewhere for one night and saw this place from Tripadvisor. Contacted the hotel directly when I saw a price quote from somewhere else asking them if they could match it. Not only did they do that but did a better deal so always contact them directly. Their location is not too far out of the centre....

Thank you so much for reviewing - it is great to receive positive feedback and helpful tips for improvement. Thank you for sharing the tip about the tram - agreed that travel from the airport or city centre couldn't be easier with this great service. The West End stop is literally one straight road to our front door. We look...

Have spent a lot more money on staying in far less worthy hotels. This is part of a small group of hotels across the UK and attention to detail and customer service is second to none. About a fifteen minute walk from hubbub of Edinburgh, this hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and retains many of the original...

Situated just away from the hustle and bustle of town but not so far that walking into town isn't exhausting. Our room was spacious, bed very comfortable and shower powerful. The room was cleaned everyday and the breakfast on offer was a good choice of fruit, cereals and cooked breakfast (although black pudding option wouldn't go amiss). The staff were...

Don't be put off with the name of this hotel, B&B stands for "belong & benefit", this being the name of the hotel group. Just returned having spent 2 nights in this very quiet hotel located 10 minutes flat walking distance from Princes St. This is a small hotel with lots of character. Check-in very easy with very helpful staff....

Thank you very much for reviewing. My wife, college aged son and I stayed here for two nights in early March. It's very comfortable and conveniently located and the staff was very nice. We would stay at B+B Edinburgh again. It has an elevator, albeit small.

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
