We have stayed in many places in different cities and this was the best yet. For the price paid I did not expect this level of service, comfort and attention to detail. We stayed in a family suite for the first two nights, needed to stay in Edinburgh for a third night and were moved to a double room. I...

Thank You, Helen - this is a lovely review and will be shared with all the Team. Have a peak at the website for info on our loyalty club - a great way to collect points towards a free stay ...oh, and a bottle of fizz on your first stay as a member..! Thanks again.

I can not recommend this B+B more highly. I stayed with friends here on either side of a wonderful trip through Scotland. The accommodation is situated in the New Town of Central Edinburgh with its beautiful Georgian buildings. Very close to bars and other amenities (can recommend Johnson's dry cleaners on the corner of Drumsheugh and Queensferry Rd - the...

Thanks you for sharing your great tips and feedback. It is possible to come and stay at B+B Edinburgh and not even venture in to the main city - our corner of town boasts super bars, boutiques and eateries and is truly relaxing in ambience. We are thrilled you have enjoyed your stay and wish you well in your further...

My wife and I spent nine nights in this hotel during the Church of Scotland General Assembly in May and found the staff welcoming, our room (Number 1) very comfortable, and the situation ideal for travel around the city. We were there on business so (sadly!) did not have much time to enjoy the bar and beautiful library - though...

Stayed their last week, two rooms, as I was traveling with son, his wife and their daughter. The accommodations far exceeded our expectations. Clean, comfortable...great shower. I had view to the rear overlooking the river. FANTASTIC. Son and his family had a room with an alcove that held a hideabed for their daughter. Perfect setup for a family. The staff...

Thank you for reviewing B+B Edinburgh. You experienced both sides of the property - views of the Castle on one and views of Dean Village on the other and it is really difficult to decide which is 'best'! We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay - a big thanks for considering our sister, B+B Belgravia - sorry they were full...

I recently stayed in this hotel, and only have praise for its comfort and style. The decor is very funky and modern, but with a traditional and classic twist. One of the most beautiful features of this hotel is it beautiful library room with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and incredibly comfy sofas and chairs where you can while away the hours with...

We stayed for 3 nights over Easter and this is one of the best places of its type I have ever stayed in. The building dates back over 150 years and has been transformed to its former glory. The entry is magnificent with a marble staircase going up to the first floor. There is reception, a bar and breakfast room...

Ah - ha - the lift! Yes, it is very small but adequate for a couple and their luggage! We are thrilled you have enjoyed B+B Edinburgh as a base for your exploration of the city. We are immensely proud of history and pleased you enjoyed the chance to soak it all up. Please consider our sisters in London, Dorset...

We usually rely on Rick Steve's recommendations but all of his places to sleep required a bus trip to get into the city. I found this in the Lonely Planet book and I'm glad I did. It's a 10 minute walk to Prince St. Very quiet location. View from our room was phenomenal (we were in room 1, a perfect...

I came by this absolute gem via a hotel site, and the price was good (more than I'd usually pay for two nights but I was treating myself) and it was a great choice. Not far from Prince Street but tucked away enough that not too much noise got to me at night, the staff was very welcoming and friendly....

Stayed for three nights with my wife and we have to say that this is probably one of the best places of it's type that we have ever stayed in. I think we had the best room ( number five), more like a junior suite than simply a room and it had a great view. The reception staff have got...

Was looking to stay somewhere for one night and saw this place from Tripadvisor. Contacted the hotel directly when I saw a price quote from somewhere else asking them if they could match it. Not only did they do that but did a better deal so always contact them directly. Their location is not too far out of the centre....

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
