B&B Edinburgh was AWESOME. Such a quaint little traditional B&B. Staff was beyond great..always friendly and so helpful with everything. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. It's in a nice location a little ways out from the hustle and bustle, but not too far that you can't walk to everything downtown, including the Royal Mile, etc. Breakfast in the morning...

You walk in and the entrance hall should and does take your breath away. It is a unique and very special high Scottish Victorian industrialist's dream of class. The marble, the star case and the wooden panelling is just absolutely exquisite and only bettered by the Library upstairs on the first floor - so special, so untouched but still somehow...

We had never been to Scotland before and decided to use a tour company. The B+B Edinburgh was the hotel we started and ended the tour in. As it worked out, it was also the hotel we stayed in a few days before the tour and would have after if they had had room for us! The building once belonged...

Thank you very much for reviewing - we are truly thrilled you have felt 'at home' with us. It is never nice to feel unwell away from familiar home and I am pleased we have been able to take the anxiety away. We have a great team here! Thank you for all your lovely encouraging words - we will be...

Location - The hotel is within walking distance of everything. There is shopping, the old Dean Village, Edinburgh Castle, a huge variety of restaurants! Parking, though, is a pain. There are metered parking spots just at the end of the block that you have to put money in every few hours during the day. At night though, it is free...

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are truly delighted you have all enjoyed B+B Edinburgh and thanks for the compliments about our rooms. It is so easy with filters etc on cameras to over 'pretty' something so we have chosen to be very honest with our images. NO false advertising! Thank you - we have sister properties in London,...

We spent a few days at the B&B. We've have stayed here last year and found it nice enough to stay again. The building has plenty of character. The rooms are on the small side and some needed a little attention in restoration but overall the rooms were nice, location was great being a short walk to Princess Street. The...

My partner and I came to stay here to celebrate our engagement for a mini break as a first time visiting Edinburgh. The hotel greeted us warmly, and we were impressed by the hotel from the moment we saw it. It is an absolutely beautiful building, maintained at a high standard in an absolutely perfect location in Haymarket, a ten...

The New Town is such a wow anyway, so we were delighted to find this well priced B&B (£85 for the room with breakfast for 2) in a really beautiful, quiet street. We had the upstairs 'garret' - beautifully converted, small but with a distant Castle view from highish velux windows.Tippy toes required. The view over the rooftops of the New...

We loved our stay. We were at the B+B for 6 days and it felt like home only better. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, a great size bathroom, and the view. The view was superb. Breakfast was good every morning, great selection. The building itself is beautiful, spend some time in the library if you stay here....

Thank you very much for taking time to review. Great to enjoy 6 nights in Edinburgh - plenty of time to really get into the groove of the city! All the B+B Collection properties boast super lounges - this differs from a lot of traditional B+B's and is really appreciated by guests. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and look...

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
