We had a very pleasant stay at this small and cosy hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. The free breakfast was nice. Excellent location near both the tram which took us to the airport, and city centre. Helpful staff, especially Alem who made us feel welcome! There was nothing to complain about during our stay.

Our large double room was on the top floor. The main room was lovely, but the shower room was very small. No bathmat was provided which meant that the floor became very slippy when someone used the shower. Fortunately my daughter cannot use shower gel otherwise we would have been stuck as there was only about 1cm left in the...

We stayed for 2 nights. The room was small but clean. Negative point are the noisy toilet. and cramped shower/loo.Breakfast was poor. The location was good,15 minutes walking distance from city centre. Definitely never again!

I stayed here for 2 nights during a weekend break with my wife. I was a bit skeptical first when I booked but nevertheless decided to proceed with it. I was so glad when I first arrived at the hotel that I had booked it and was greeted by Alam. I was there few hours early but was welcomed and...

Our stay here was wonderful! We were given room #3 which overlooks the backyard garden, it was a very spacious room with a beautiful view! It also very clean and nice and quiet. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights while on an anniversary trip and would definitely stay again! Our plane got in at 9 am and they...

Helpful courteous staff. Room was compact but absolutely fine for a solo traveller and had all I needed. Clean, nice bedding and comfy bed. Room faced the back and was very peaceful. Breakfast was perfectly fine too. Location suited very well. Walking distance of city centre and close to bus stop to/from airport. If rate is competitive I wouldn't rule...

Lovely friendly people and warm welcome but essentially a bit basic and functional - the room was small and cramped - especially the shower/loo - and needed a thorough clean including the light shades and fittings. Not too many frills and catering essentially for tourists - good freshly cooked breakfast.

I understand that staying anywhere in Edinburgh during the Fringe Festival is expensive, this is a given. So I was well aware that I was going to have to pay over the odds for accommodation, I plumped for No. 32 Hotel, which seemed like a lovely boutique hotel from the images, and not too bad value, at £160 per night...

The hotel has a good location with about a 15 minute walk into the centre of Edinburgh. We found the room (6) spacious and clean. Staff were polite and helpful. The cooked breakfast was great. Being at the top of the building the climb of the stair case was a little daunting.

We stayed two night at the 32. The room (#2) was very spacious. This used to be a 20 plus room hotel, now 11. Room 2 used to be 3 rooms that shared a bathroom. If you haven't stayed recently, you should give it a try. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is a few blocks from the tram...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
