The hotel is in a large old house on a quaint street of similar large old houses. It is very close to the Waverley train station. Several bus lines and the tram make getting around quite easy. Breakfast was quite good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A couple of decent pubs close to the train station, and reasonable...

Stayed here for 3 nights. Room small but immaculate. Breakfast was lovely, and tasty. Room wasn't ready for us when we checked in but we could leave our luggage at reception. I think it was the owner that stayed at reception, he stayed there all day, looking out the window which was a bit uncomfortable as he didn't speak to...

The hotel is clean and the staff very pleasant. Ideal location and all rooms ensuites. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on this but believe it is a full Scottish breakfast for a very reasonable charge. Rooms vary in size but have the amenities you need. My only comment would be that on the three nights our party stayed...

Stayed three nights. Arrived here after a long flight from Australia. Hosts were very helpful. Checkin was easy and as we were on the top floor we had help with our cases. I wasnt well when we arrived and each time I saw the host he asked how I was, which was very nice. Our room was number 5. The...

I could go on and on about how wonderful our experience was at No. 32. My fiance and I stayed here for a week with our respective families (about 6 hotel rooms) while we planned our wedding celebration. The staff was immediately helpful and friendly; they let us check in early and stow our luggage. The location is only about...

We had a very pleasant stay at this small and cosy hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. The free breakfast was nice. Excellent location near both the tram which took us to the airport, and city centre. Helpful staff, especially Alem who made us feel welcome! There was nothing to complain about during our stay.

Our large double room was on the top floor. The main room was lovely, but the shower room was very small. No bathmat was provided which meant that the floor became very slippy when someone used the shower. Fortunately my daughter cannot use shower gel otherwise we would have been stuck as there was only about 1cm left in the...

I stayed here for 2 nights during a weekend break with my wife. I was a bit skeptical first when I booked but nevertheless decided to proceed with it. I was so glad when I first arrived at the hotel that I had booked it and was greeted by Alam. I was there few hours early but was welcomed and...

Our stay here was wonderful! We were given room #3 which overlooks the backyard garden, it was a very spacious room with a beautiful view! It also very clean and nice and quiet. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
